When are your driven plates shot.

  1. I'm still looking for a decent set of sintered friction plates, I've been reading up on these and it seems that Sigma suggest sintered for bhp over 130, before I order I need to consider cost for the full set i.e. sintered and driven ,but how do you assess when your steel plates are past their best, I dont want to pay for a full set if I only need frictions.

  2. Thanks for that Steve I too have two sets of the driven plates ,neither of which look bad to me..
If they look a bit glazed I have been giving them a clean up with a fine wet/dry paper.
Interesting about sintered being steel I didnt realise that, and have in the past just used O.E. plates, however doing about 30 race starts in a season (generally on an upslope) of hillclimbs ,I thought I'd try some plates designed for racing.Mind you at some of the prices I've come across I may just stick to std and replace twice like I do now.
My plates now are at the grauncing stage on taking off on normal road use which irritates the hell out of me. Cleaning out the clutch makes no difference and the seasons about to start so I need to buy asap.
