Refurbishing the front brake caliper on my Honda XL 600 RMG , fitted new seals and despite spending a couple of hours on it I can't work out where the ' spring clip' fits. Any ideas anyone?
Is that a single sided caliper I spy? If so, I reckon you will find that the spring clip goes behind the non-piston side pads.......I think the same way round as in the pic, but the other way up.... ........I have something very similar on my car rear (useless) brakes......... AL
Al Yes, single sided caliper. I will give your idea a try now, I have tried all logical, and illogical efforts to find how it fits, but so far it's defeated me. It was in there when I took it apart so I Know it will go back in eventually. Thanks for your help, much appreciated.
Thanks for that Chris, I have a Clymer manual, and that is a photo of the 'other caliper fitted to the XL' mine doesn't have the fins on the main body ( part number 4).
Sussed it! The clip locatates on the fixed bracket that is bolted to the forks. ( fixed bracket swivelled out of the way for photo clarity) Many thanks for help, much appreciated.
Peter The ability to take a photo and instantly send it with a smartphone, I can say is the single most improvement to my life since I bought a second hand i phone from a member of this site. Previously I used to search for my camera, bugger about looking for the connecting leads, download the photo onto my hard disc and then instantly loose it , spend an age looking for it's location, and if and when I eventually find it have problems with downloading it. Wonderful piece of technology, I am a technophobe, but have been totally converted now I have this!
