I travel up and down the M42 around Birmingham regularly. Somebody has nicked all of the Gatso boxes from the overhead gantries. Every single one of them! Only the platforms remain. Now PC Plod isn't going to lose a nice revenue stream like that, is he? What are they using instead?
Oh dear. You haven’t spotted the ones on the sides, above the hard shoulder then. Always on btw, like M5 Bristol, so 80 plus at 3am will get you a ticket
Yep, I've seen those. How do they work if the dynamic speed limit changes on the road as you travel between them? Are they that clever? Can they really see all the way into the outside lane as a 38 tonne curtain-side trailer passes them on the inside lane?
Yes, there are lots of them and it is difficult to shield with a wagon at all but one of them, and yes they are clever and adjust to the displayed limits - hardly advanced tech nowadays I'm afraid
AFAIK they work off the speed limit at that time, so yes if its 70 and one and 50 at another, it nabs you. They are fixed, not average, cameras (by the lot of them and no signs saying average). NO idea how they pick up the lanes tho, common sense would say two cameras if only two lanes it won be the outside ones.
