In my recently acquired box of assorted bits I have an adjustable steering tube part no, 343.1.005.1A. The earliest information I have is 2001 on for the 748R/RS, 996R/RS and 998S/R/RS where the common part no is 343.2.005.1A. I put the part number in Google and got conflicting information about it being 916SPS, 749/999 and even Desmosedici RR :Wideyed:. My memory tells me that Ducati stopped making bikes with the adjustable steering head post 2002 which means there would be some 996's and 998's and all 749/999's that don't have it. Is it likely that despite the revision (.1 to .2) the parts are interchangeable between 9**/748/998 through all years ? Thanks, Andy
996 998 749 and 999 all had it apart from some of the very base models......and the steering head is the same size...with the adjustment being 23.5 or 24.5.... canny old dogs fitted a straight insert to 748 998 etc to achieve 24 degrees......... the 1098 etc are non adjustable at 24 degrees...
Once again Andy, thank you. As I looked at the 749 base parts list, that explains why I didn't see it. Looks ideal for me to keep as a spare although I cannot think of a scenario where I would need one without totalling the bike. Andy
