Got this rev counter, my 996 one has Ducati Corse on it but this one has Ducati Racing. Any significance to that, does it denote model year/ compatibility or anything. Thanks.
not if age is a factor or not but i have a '96 916 and a '99 996 and both have "ducati racing" on the rev counter if it helps
"Ducati Corse" appeared on tachometeres after a certain year. I don't know which year but a guess would be 1998 (TPG). I also guess old stock was used up in the process. I also now believe that the tacho is paired to the ECU and P8 tacho'se won't work on 1.6M ECUs and vice versa.
Did you pull the bezel/glass off this instrument? If so I would like to know how and if it came off without damage.
I may be wrong (again) but I believe P8 tacho’s work on both P8 and 1.6M ecu’s whereas 1.6M tacho’s only work on 1.6M ecu’s.
I thought all ST4's had the 1.6M ecu though? My bike's a 916 Strada with a P8, so not sure how that's possible. My guess is that they made a slightly different version for the US market, based on other quirks that only apply to US bikes (temp gauge in F°, for example).
Ah there we go then. I like that carbon clock surround, I used to have one of them on a previous 996s.......... I wonder if anyone still makes them,
