1200 Why I Purchased A Mutley

  1. Having just recovered my 998S from the MOT garage I remember why I purchased the MTS1200.
The 90° angle fuel feed pipe had a fracture and had to be replaced. During this repair I was looking at the finish of the 998, in some places it's terrible. The Mutley is much better put together and the design has been well thought out.

The 998 "face down, arse up" ride position means that the weight on my arms is like a handstand. The mirrors allow me to keep a good eye on my waist and elbows.
As for life savers, since I have neither the neck of an Owl or Giraffe, the best I can hope for is that my peripheral vision may save my life or keep going so fast, that surely nothing could be coming past me.

I was hoping to get out during the week to keep my hand in, so to speak. While I was waiting for my MTS1200 to come back from MD racing (30K service with one serious issue), but I won't bother.

Now do I sell the 998 and let a younger (fitter) man enjoy the dream or hold on to it (possible put on the wall) and wait for the value to go up?

  6. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder! Have you seen the state of my missus!

  7. I sold my 996 for the change to the original Multi as it was too uncomfortable on long runs and I was going too fast. No regrets but in your shoes; If you have the garage space and the 998 is a nice one (knowing you, am sure it is!) then I would keep it....

  8. As a young man I used to work in the electronic security industry. I saw loads of rich guys with lovely bikes n cars, just sitting in the garage (Not to mention miss July centre fold 1976); just not being ridden often enough.
I swore that would never be me.....but then I've turned in to one of them old gits...(without the miss. july issue)
I've got the space and don't need the few thousand I might get for her.

I do love the sound of the exhaust (factory termis) :)

  9. Keep it to remind you of your passion and of times gone by.. Before you needed a fugly
