  1. Bring out a naked panigale - fair few concepts floating about

  3. I second that. That's not good.

  4. The question was if it will happen. Concepts are just that :)

  5. My fingers and toes are crossed that it will happen. Judging by how many super naked bikes are coming out at the moment I hope it's soon. But you never know with ducati. Look at the scrambler thing that's coming. Really!!

  6. I like that concept :)

  7. Looks too much like a Katana. I'd prefer a naked with a Diavel engine. Its perfect.
But if Ducati insist on a mental Pani-naked:

Now give that to Rizoma to finish off.

  8. I'd like to try one, 899 not floating my boat after a test tide and can't think of anything else other than a 1098sf of a KTM that may be more fun than my 848 sf

The pierobon looks good but needs some bodywork behind the seat for me

  9. The problem will be the price IMO.

The panigale 1199 is already a tad over priced I reckon, as you'll be using very nearly all the same tech it'll probably come in at £14-15k for a SF version. Then you know the rest, only a few will sell and then they'll drop them again from the range.

The difference with the KTM's is that everybody who knows ktm well expects a price cut at some point, the dealers are used to that as are the public. So probably next year you'll get loads of 2014 bikes at £2k less, then they'll face lift, price back up, then they'll do the same in 2016.....and so on.

Ducati rarely allow such discounting nor do they manufacture to allow for that, so the price will always stay high.

Good in one respect if you're an owner, bad for numbers of sales when you can buy a Tuono for less than £12k, a BMW for less than £12k and so on.

I guess the other main issue is actually getting a 1199 based SF bike to perform better than either the Tuono or S1000r.

I'm not convinced without major changes that they could tbh

  10. I think your right it's gotta be more than the 1200M

I've put a kidney on eBay in anticipation - I wouldn't say I don't care about cost but I would still by the Ducati over the BMW even if it was 5k cheaper and out performed it. :tart:

  11. But that's the issue you see, not many other people would and looks are in the eye of the beholder.

It's a numbers thing, they 'may' actually fair just as well bringing out a tuned 899 engine variant. Nobody needs top speed on a naked as you simply can't get there, you want usable torque and relatively good comfort and feel.

The 899 engine kicks out what? 150bhp? It's pretty much what bmw have done with the s1000r, they went for usable torque more so than peaky power

  12. Sounds like a plan - I was so hoping the Monster was going to be 'the one' but it's just not floating the boat.

I hope they do something more crazy Ducati than sensible Audi

  13. Why doesn't the monster 1200 float your boat? Looks?

Have you test ride one? They're a hoot!

  14. Yes I have tested one - it was just :meh: It needs to be leaner and meaner - grrr

  15. Too small for me but I just don't think its edgy enough, it looks a bit cruiser more than fighter.

  16. More grunt do you mean?

  17. Try the Diavel then ;)

  18. It needs to be less Phillishave and more cut throat razor

  19. I would expect an 899 naked of some sort. I reckon that would be an absolute hoot and would sell in droves..... take the concept of the Street Triple (small and light) but with more go....... Which is all you ever hear from their owners. "it's great fun and handles brilliant but it could do with a bit more oomph"

I'd definitely book a test ride if they made one but I fear the willy waving brigade would swing the research team to making one from an 1199. It would then prove too powerful for a naked with either too much power low down after detuning or too much up top where you don't use it on a naked.

The monsters don't really appeal to me either. It seems they've gone too far down the cruiser rabbit hole with them.... Not a sports bike with no fairing like an SF.

899 all the way I reckon.
