  1. R.I.P. Willie. :(

He always seemed like a nice fellow.

  2. Poor Willie RIP

  3. I remember my dad watching pot black and seeing willy and his buddies

  4. OMG I didn't know he was only 66! I genuinely thought that he was way older, he was old when I was a young buck but it turns out he's only 8 years older!

  5. I thought he was going to be 80+

  6. RIP, one of the nice guys, at least his passing was quick so hopefully lessened the suffering.

  7. agree, I always looked forward to his commentary, lovely temperament, subtle humour.

  8. Rip big willie...I met him at his old snooker centre in Leicester city centre probably 30 years ago he actually came over to me to answer a question about a ferrel...I knew he was big mates with Gary lineker so asked about his recent game against Madrid (he was at Barca) and if he had attended to which he replied he hadn’t

Willie has had a sad decline, remember this fella made 147’s for fun probably more than anyone ever so should have a few quid but gambling sorted that one out.

Not a bad commentator in my opinion and was blown out by the bbc unceremoniously and undeserved, what I personally find sad is the whole snooker world has come out blubbering on about his greatness and what a top man he was etc etc yet despite the multi millions in the game £17,000 has gone to a go fund me page I believe it’s been running a while and I’m baffled the millionaires lineker included have not bumped the pot up to a healthy amount...yes lineker contributed but Jesus they were mates and he is minted....maybe they have coughed up in private who knows.

It will be a film I imagine as it’s a very sad story and I don’t believe his end was very quick unfortunately as it has been known a while he was badly.

Not one of my favourites I’ll be honest but I’m saddened about this

    RIP

  9. I wasn't a fan of him while he was playing, but he was a thoroughly nice guy and I thought he made a great commentator.
Sad to hear about the gambling bit, I did wonder where his money had gone.
66 is no age, such a shame.
