So boys and girls and general misfits, winter is coming and I desperately need to tidy up all the dots and “t’s” I left when I rebuilt my bike! a bit premature because we have a few good weeks of riding left! (Touch wood) but as soon as the weather turns I’m pulling my bike to bits for a deep clean and to actually get her looking like a bike to be proud of and not just a rideable project! Number one on the list is the frame, I rattle caned it red because I wasn’t sure if I would like it! Never took much care of the paint.....rested the tank on bare frame while running the bike and fault finding. Look closely and zoom in you can see (it’s worse in person!) I want to choose a colour that I can swap between my original 996r panels and the carbon weave ones! The engine needs re-silvering Some of the panels need the resin repaired. It’s a good opportunity to grease the swing arm pivot bolt and check how my 848/1198 swing arm conversion pivot rocker is holding up after storage and nearly a season of abuse. while the engine is out I might as well do a leak down test and check the rockers and valve clearance’s I may even take the heads off and deep clean and re-seat the chamber’s and valves. ive a few electrical issues that I need to resolve, as in I was probably pissed when I re-wired the sodding thing and can’t remember exactly what I wired to what and for why. flush and bleed fluids Re assemble without skipping anything that I deem not needed! new set of boots for spring and sit about waiting for spring (hopefully not spring 2024) that’s the plan anyway.
