Possibly another one for the jobs worth thread The pratt in question isn't Colin the nice old boy doing a job, but his 'manager' from the council as she's clearly another self important health and safety imbecile. https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/real-life-stories/parents-outraged-schoolchildren-banned-high-11989246 Ok, it might not sound like a major thing but it does make me sad that 'they' suck the life, love and fun out of everything. All whilst hiding behind the illusion that they're doing it 'for our own good' I've got two daughters, and the little one who's five in two weeks loves this kind of thing. Whether it's a lady at the supermarket who recognises her to say hello, a bus driver making her chuckle, or a nice old fella like this helping kids across the road to school. Shit like this makes my blood boil, but it also makes me extremely sad that these f##king halfwits can just add a little more gloom to a pensioners and child's day by hiding behind legislation of some sort.
"Father-of-four Colin, known by the kids as "Lolly", was supervised by his manager earlier this week after the high-five ban was introduced." I bet he was.
Absolutely fuckin pathetic mate. This is the world we live in whereby office dwelling morons make our decisions for us with no real clue to whats actually going on outside of there plush council buildings. Sack the flaming lot of em....
Political correctness, safety nazis, dumbing down to the lowest common denominator and a complete void of common sense, its all part of a grand scheme to destroy society as we know it now
The illusion of democracy and freedom. I mean let's just look at the theory behind it. He's instructed to not high five little kids, so that it doesn't cause a distraction, of what exactly? An out of control motorist that hasn't already seen a person walk in to the road on their own to stop traffic, wearing head to toe high viz, and a massive reflective stop sign on a pole? So let's just assume for a minute this out of control motorist continues towards the kids and Colin, what exactly is it they're expecting him, or anybody for that matter to be able to do about that? A completely random accident, a 2-4t car, and they expect what to be done? It's just bollocks, nothing more than patronising nannying and frankly telling not only him, but a bunch of little innocent kids how to live their lives. I wish we could have an opt out form from all of this
you do, its called council elections. generally its just the zoomers that bother to get involved with the local stuff. let the crazy's in, get crazy legislation. anyoo, who is actually "outraged"? the parents or the sub editor?
Should we have some sort of common sense test before people are allowed to represent us? I would not let anyone who doesn't drink and doesn't ride a motorbike and is female represent us. Only a joke. However people who get in to these positions do seem to have had their normal chip removed. Regards Stev
Can you opt out of health and safety legislation at a local level? Point me in the direction if thats the case As for the outraged, i guess in this case i am, because its just piss poor.
Councils are full of fuckwits. I see your Council Tax is increasing. Someone has to pay for these wasters.
Politicians at all levels are often desperate to be seen to be doing something and have either forgotten or never were aware that sometimes the best thing to do is not to do anything. On a slightly different note the text sent by the school to the parents said " Please may we ask that children don`t high five the lollipop man etc etc" The way it is worded implies the school is asking permission from the parents. The sensible response from them should be a simple "No you may not "
is it a national policy? if so, we deffo let the zoomers in. but yip its a ridiculous thing, another nail in the coffin for "community" to many years of lawyers queuing up and rubbing their hands in anticipation of a bit of profit from a tragedy, or more likely something trivial, blown out of all proportion by a partisan press. i dont like the press. you probably haven't noticed
Every year these fuckwits claim they can't make any more cuts yet I have yet to hear of any council that has done anything about their gold plated final salary pension schemes that make up around 25% of their wage bill each year When they address this issue maybe they can be taken seriously but whilst they remain on their closeted gravy train they can not be taken seriously
Well your Councils operate differently from ours. We recently had a complete reorganisation of the boundaries presented as streamlining and cost saving. It was and is bullshit. Ffs NI is so over managed it’s embarrassing.
seems to me these untrained B&Q rejects are intent on adding to the morning rush hour misery. They have no idea on how to gather the kids to the side of the road beforehand and then cross them safely to the other side. Instead they'll stand in the middle of the road for what feels like a lifetime, holding up the traffic, and waiting for Johnny from the other side of the play ground to eventually cross the bloody road. A certainty wouldn't encourage my kids to engage with these lollipop people let alone high five one. And in an unusual move I have to agree with farmer camel, why on earth would you want to read and quote from the rag that is the daily mirror? In fact I'd be more concerned about that !
I come across random stuff like this on my flipboard app It grabs news articles from UK sources (worldwide as well) and collates them in the app. You can input various interests, technology, sports, twitter feeds etc and its probably the best app I use on the ipad. https://flipboard.com/ With news items though it tends to source as per your location (UK) so unfortunately certain things slip through So no, I don't ask it to source from the mirror, but on occasion something grabs my attention and boils my piss
