Yes?/no?

  1. Given some of the recent posts, about how insurers are querying aftermarket parts during the claim process, if necessary. What is the general consensus of what can be done without notifying the insurers and what can’t?

I know and accept that to be sure, we would need to inform them and be certain, but for the sake of it, what would you be happy to do without informing them and what would you not???

  2. As with many things in life, there’s an element of risk/gamble. I don’t insure my track bikes, I cover the risks myself and after 16 years, so far so good.

When I ran a road bike my primary concern was having it nicked. Usually when a nice bike gets nicked it’s never seen again so even if you’d bolted a supercharger to it, it doesn’t matter- it’s gone, and no assessors are going to know there was a significant performance mod. But say you flatten grandma on a pedestrian crossing and there’s an investigation involving the police/liabilities and it’s discovered you’ve fitted a track only full system without disclosure, you could be in the shit….

  3. Never give them a chance to wriggle out of paying. I declare everything and have never found it made that much difference anyway.
