somewhere on here was a detailed with pictures of someone who removed there cat and opened it up, removed all the stuff inside and welded it back up, try as I can I can’t find it. I plan to get another cat and do this along with removing the flappy thing on the outlet, hopefully this will improve what already is an awesome bike. I shall keep the original cat to go back on when I sell it. Thanks Alan
Can't help you there Alan. But I'm sure I'm not alone when I say can you post up photos when you get round to de coring Would find it very interesting.
Not sure if you're thinking of mine.... It was for the pre DVT model though... https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/aftermarket-slip-on-exhaust.54018/#post-967271
That’s the one, ok so another question, is this possible on the dvt model version and is it a standard effective? Having only owned this rocket since Sep I don’t want to ruin it but I do like the idea of removing the stuff from inside inc the flap. Anybody done it?
Did this on a monster S4rs I had with the help from a forum member. The difference to the sound was amazing, and keeping the original exhaust a bonus.
From what I've read on here, removing the flap valve is a good thing but removing the baffles requires a re map, which apparently no one has cracked on the DVT yet.
It’s less that no one has cracked it and more that no one has paid to be the first to have it cracked. Chris @ CJS I believe is confident it can be done but it will be time consuming and could go wrong on the first attempt. Everything is possible at a cost
Flapper was a piece of cake, and is definitely worth while because at some point, it will jam shut. https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/hacksaw-to-the-butterfly.50478/
My own personal observations, of removing the cat internals, have been positive. No issues to report whatsoever. Only the benefits of, what feels like, a free-er breathing, more responsive engine. Only the cat itself was removed but I did drill a few extra holes in the internal baffle plate to assist the aforementioned breathing. I did however, remove the valve entirely and had the holes welded up. What I will point out though, as I also have a Mivv full decat link pipe and end-can, and doing an almost back-to-back test, this also had next to no negative effect on the engine too. I think from that point of view, removing cat internals is not massively influential, other than pollution, but completely gutting the standard internals and, effectively, having a huge empty collector box, would have an adverse effect on gas flow and back pressure. Once I get a DVT standard exhaust I'll go through a similar process. We shall see....
If you want to just keep the valve open all the time (I found this a big improvement) just get hold of one of these: http://www.vizi-tec.com/duc-ee/ Plug it in and the valve stays open all the time, no errors and the Ducati Mechanic at P&H recommends it
