  1. My Makita one is 450Nm on fastening, electric ones are the are usually rated more than double that on loosening I think

  2. Careful you don't alter the Earth's rotation.

    Nah fuck it. Crack on.

  3. It did occur to me that as I hold the rattle gun the nut might stay still and the bike start spinning around the nut so I am a bit wary:astonished:.

Fortunately it has variable power 1 - 5 so will start on maybe no.2 first and work up from there.

  4. Nah, far too old, there's nowt wrong with it just been done up too tight. However, where I will take it to is the dealer I bought it from, who put the new tyres on when I bought it Feb last year, they did them up, they can undo them if I can't get it off. I'll just make sure they don't use a rattle gun to do it up again but use a normal wrench and torque it to the correct value by hand.

  6. to clarify, (immhoo)

Paul got it just about right in quote below.

Many other manufacturers adopt the same principle including Yamaha. i.e. - It's thought that it's safer for mirror to become loose when struck while moving, rather than risk breakage.

  12. Is it a left hand thread. Some mirrors are attached this way, try turning in opposite rotation.
