Diavel Diy Tail Tidy - 1260s

Discussion in 'Diavel & XDiavel' started by Carbon749, Aug 8, 2020.

  1. First job on the 1260 was to relocate the number plate from stock position to the grab handle, but, this meant losing the indicators.

I was fine with that short term, but knew I’d have to sort it eventually. So, started with some some 3mm stainless steel plate, 16mm dia. stainless steel tube, treaded insets in SS and a pair of Motogadget M Blaze Pin indicators.

After some work in the garage, help from a mate who can TIG Stainless and a coat of satin black powder coat. Using the right connectors means I can plug straight into the stock wiring loom.

The indicators are almost invisible when off, but more than bright enough when on.

I’m really happy with the result.

  6. That looks great buddy, nice job. Like the Simpson Darksome too. I have the Gloss black version, really impressed with it.
I fancy a ride on a 1260, heard they are an awesome piece of kit

  7. hi Carbon 749 , i joined the forum today as i saw your tail tidy , magnificent , do you make these by any chance as i would love to buy one & get rid of that lovely Ducati one !!! regards Buddy.

  8. Hi Buddy, you’re not the first to ask, but, sorry it was a job for myself.

There is more work involved than it may look. Nothing difficult, just a little running round, using friends workshop for welding etc. The kind of thing you’d do for your own bike, but it wouldn’t be viable to try and turn into a commercial venture.

Happy to give details of parts used and how I did certain parts.

  9. I’m very tempted to try. Did you just drill and tap the grab rail

  10. thanks , im just getting lazy i suppose , i WILL make myself do it , your pics explain it all , so thank you.

  11. drill and tap the grab rail, but, then drilled a hole through the grab rail and through the undertray to run the wiring. There are no visible wires for the indicators.

  12. The whole bike looks mint mate !! I suppose at some point you are gonna have to try and fit a light over the reg plate though ? Unless you use a very sympathetic garage ?

  13. Maybe, did similar to my gen 2 Diavel, didn’t have a number plate light, and that passed ok. Not a problem for another 18 months or so :)

  14. I used the Evo Tech one on all my Diavels ( gen 1 & gen 2) , but I made my own for the X Diavel as I wanted to retain the back rest. I have plunged for the Evo Tech one again on my 1260S as I like the Rear light delete and the clean lines that the new bracket offers. As much as those rear lights look cool slung underneath, my mate reckons that when hes riding behind me they are not very visible. The gen 1 & 2 bikes are more visible due to the angle they are fitted at..

  15. Would you mind posting up a pic with the lights illuminated please

  16. Do you mean with the single light illuminated ? Which is on the Evo Tech Tail Tidy ?

  17. This is why I went the DIY, I like the stock back lights and wanted to keep them. Not had anyone say yet that they cant see them clearly.

All personal taste, if we all liked the same thing, we'd all be riding a Honda :joy:

  18. Probably just my mate`s very old eyeballs, hence why he`s always behind me on his Blade.......:)
