Monster 1100 Rs

Discussion in 'Monster' started by folbjo, Feb 15, 2021.

  1. I have been lucky and given the opportunity to take over this great Monster.
This is my 3 Monster 1100 and I love these Ducati. Great design, fun to drive, air-cooled engine, dry clutch, and a fantastic sound and lots of low torque
This is a very special Ducati Monster 1100, with lots of nice and expensive parts.

    To name the most important:

    - Ohlin's fork yard by SBK mechanic
    - Mupo rear shock
    - SBK slipper clutch
    - Metal Tech SBK adjustable footrest
    - SBK switches
    - Steering crown of CNC Racing in 7075 alu
    - brake and clutch lever in 7075 alu, Brembo
    Lots of carbon parts
    - alcantara sete
    - HPE exhaust

The previous owner has worked in the MotoGP / Supebike "circus", and the Monster was modified when it was new by the company Metal Tech in Italy. It was exhibited at various events in connection with MotoGP and SBK, and World Ducati Week. It was exhibited at WDW 2012 and chosen to be one of the 10 most beautiful of the thousands who participated in the competition, and it was exhibited for 3 years in a row at EICMA (Milan motorcycle show) All parts of it are e-marked and approved, made by companies he collaborated with in his job in the racing world. Troy Bayliss # 21 was test driver, along with test driver for Ducati Luca Scassa # 99

  2. That's had the kitchen sink thrown at it

Edit: Just realised that you're in Norway and 'might' not get the statement. I mean to say that the bike has had a lot of shiny items fitted :)

  10. Have plans to upgrade the brakes with one set of
100mm Radial M4 Monobloc Front Caliper kit
Does anyone have experience with this specific setup on the Monster 1100s?
    Recommendations and advice are required

  11. Hi - I have an M1100S and have fitted 4 pot radial calipers (from 749R/999 series). These are much cheaper than M4 calipers and more available. They offer excellent braking feel and power. Also, they fit using existing brake hoses with no need to change them.
I have also fitted forged wheels from a Hypermotard 1100 Evo S (like @doggy )which reduce weight even further and make the steering more nimble.

  13. This amazing Monster deserves a tuning that works. Since I have previously rebuilt 2 Monster 1100 Evo and 1 Hypermotard 1100 Evo SP with this setup, it was easy for me to choose this solution for this one as well.
ECU will be mapped with Hypertrick map from Italia Bike Center in Arboga in Sweden.
The mapping is set up with MWR air filter, and works perfectly.
The engine then gets both higher power and torque, but most importantly, it becomes silky smooth to run at low speeds. With this setup, it also works in the city. The sound from the intake is magical and addictive. Recommended :upyeah:

  14. Thanks Keith_P

Well, I like to wash a little too. Grease and dirt must not be allowed to stick.
Once it has burned well into the cooling fins, then you have a problem.

I usually spray the engine with engine cleaner, and then I have a paintbrush that I clean between the cooling fins, and in tight places. I also have a product (Diamant Weisserstein) that I use on cooling fins and exhaust systems. Then I wash with a good shampoo.

    I like her clean ;)

  15. Then the list of ordered parts for my Monster has arrived.
The parts come up from Italy in April via my contact person in Italy Jan Kristiansen.
He also runs the company mcimport.it, and imports motorcycles from Italy to Scandinavia.
    Can highly recommend him.

  17. Lovely

But these fluid reservoirs have to go :upyeah:

  18. Here are some new pictures of my Monster. Jan Kristiansen at mcimport.it has helped with most everything with this Ducati, everything from the import from Italy and parts. The latest is that he has had new exhaust manifolds welded up in Titan. They are made in Italy after original manifolds that were produced by HPE. The company chose to increase the diameter to 48 mm. I thought it turned out incredibly well. Sounds good too

Was invited to take it to the Oslo Motor Show exhibition this autumn. There it was awarded as Best Street Bike
