  1. I still work weekends, but not EVERY weekend. Saturday and Sunday are just part of my working week, so no overtime rate, just another workday with week days off instead

  2. Well,
I get paid overtime for weekends otherwise I would do them.

if you work Saturday and Sunday but only get 2 days off in return that’s a rip off.
Saturday is time and a half, Sunday is double time so I’d expect at least 3 days off in return.

  5. Hope you don’t take offence, but that’s on you.

  6. None taken.

Sadly in my current line of work there’s no choice.

I spent 5 months out of work last year and it was REALLY hard financially. To have this job in a pretty grim market leaves my options limited.

  7. Understood:upyeah::)

Hopefully things change for you and you get paid what you deserve to be paid, soon !:upyeah::)

  8. That’s really poor. I think I’d be looking elsewhere.

  9. I’m shocked some think it’s unusual.

I’ve never had a job where I was paid overtime or earnt time off in lieu.

When you are salaried in any sort of manufacturing environment you put the hours in required to do the job, that’s just how it is.

  10. Same for me in a lifetime of various engineering & design jobs. However, I'd say that it's not right that we are/were denied time off in lieu when working (a lot of) unscheduled hours. I would have thought a lot better of my various employers had they been just a little bit more generous & caring!

  11. When I had my design company I didn’t pay overtime but 95% of the time it wasn’t required either. Occasionally someone would need to stay late or work on a weekend but I’d give them time off if it was significant. I’d also be relaxed about them having time off for appointments at dentists or doctors etc. I just treated them like grown ups and hopefully they didn’t take the piss

  12. Back to the dealership thing...

Something that was said in an excellent example fault-finding video about my car is that a main dealer is (or should be) the experts; they have all the tools, diagnostic equipment, access to parts, experience, etc. A local garage - bike or car - will be working on many different makes, so they're not going to be anything like an expert unless they work on, say, one make or even better - one model (yes, extremely rare). At the dealer you should be confident that they've seen your problem before and know how to fix it, and if not, should want to find out the issues for then and the future.

Now I realise that this sounds rather idealistic :innocent: however this is why I don't go to my local dealer, as they're clearly not experts, yet they're only dealing with ONE make! From most of the posts on this forum (yes, there are some great exeptions) it seems that all of us would prefer to use someone like Louigi Moto, Cornerspeed and so on as they care

  13. Re Hyside, I recently saw one of their techies in the workshop of our local hipster w*nkfest that is Poulson Creative. He appeared to be mildly occupied.

  14. If I owned a motorcycle dealership I’d want it to be open on the weekend in the summer. Especially weekends like the one just gone.
Fully understand why you wouldn’t in the winter months.
Having said that maldon one is literally at the arse end of that trading estate and can’t get much passing traffic if any.

  15. Be interested to know if sales have gone up or down since they left Rommy.

  16. I would also add Sunday is the one day of the week by far that bikers tend to go out on their bikes. Why would you not have your dealership open for them?

  17. If you look at the projectmoto YouTube a few of them have moved over there from hyside so no idea what’s gone off

    • Thanks Thanks x 1

  18. Our local CMC is closed Sunday/Monday, I’ll guess they looked at the numbers and decided those 2 days weren’t worth the cost to open on.
Not sure about everyone else but Sat/Sun are days for riding for me.

  19. Saturdays too busy round my way to the point of unbearable.
Sundays is okay up to lunchtime.
If you were open Sunday in the summer you could have one of those smash burger vans/ice cream van parked up, merch/kit for sale, and let people wander round the bikes and dare I say buy a new one/spend a few quid.
It’s what the three of us intended to do when we ventured to high side (well, look around the bikes anyway, the rest would have been a pleasant bonus),
Seems I’m not part of the biker norm (again) lol.
