Oddly I feel like that today too. Not done any cleaning or maintenance this weekend as been away in Cornwall but when it cools down a bit I might clean one of the bikes.
Yep - 6th sense.....so many times in earlier life - days like to day have either... 1. Ended up in court. 2. Ended up in A&E. 3. Ended up emptyting my wallet after a catastrophic failure. 4. Ended up with a fixed penalty.
Painted/stained our top decking, ran out of stain! Been a beautiful weekend but no bike fun for me ( other than cleaning the SL and adjusting the chain on the SS) I’m taking myself off to France for my first solo trip next Sunday. I’m hoping touring will be much more bearable now I’ve fitted cruise control to the SS. wish me luck
I gave mine a quick foam/scrub/rinse but it needs a deeper clean. Went for a quick razz to dry it off, after the oldies had vacated the garden centres and the roads
Well, ironically i went into the garage and thought...not been out on dads 400/4 since one of the lads on here balanced the carbs but, left it on reserve....i think one of the carbs is still a bit leaky so it emptied the tank! so thats that then....back in the basement (where its nice and cool) another cuppa - watching an old film...
Went out on the Multi for a short run of about 40 miles. Was hoping to go out with a mate but no answer for a week on the phone and no answer at his house. I know his Mum has been unwell so hoping all is ok. Ride was mostly uneventful except for a bee getting into my helmet and landing on my glasses. Thankfully it was a dead straight bit of road so I could just pull in to one side. Saw a few bikers out in shorts which always makes me cringe, worst one had a kid of about 10 on the back in shorts as well. Forgot my ear plugs so tinnitus is bad tonight. The Schuberth helmet is suppose to be very quiet but is far older than my old Shoei. Especially if you leave a small gap for air flow under the visor. On my last Shoei it made a small difference but seems to double the volume in the Schuberth.
Veridian cruise. Canadian company Can’t believe Ducati didn’t fit cruise to my 23 Supersport. S as standard!
I’m off enduro’ing tomorrow, followed by a few days in Dorset with my eldest, so I started packing the van.
Rode round Wales, about as far South as we've been around 20 miles from Swansea, then back up to Builth Wells and then The Devils Staircase. A very long day in the seat..... Could be time to buy a 'green laner' and get rid of the SM.
Yeah, it's like that straight bit of road just past a right hander when you'd normally biff past a car but for some reason you decide not to this time. And then you spot there's a tractor with those big straw bale spikes coming the other way....
Drove down to Maidstone Motoliner to pick up the newly straightened Darmah's swingarm so yes, it was bent. Will offer it up tomorrow to see what sort of difference it made. When I got back next door's Peugeot E3008 had conked out in the dirt lane at the side of the house blocking all access - because you can't push a broken down electric vehicle 18k miles and according to the RAC guy one of the electric motors had failed.
Not driven one of those but have driven over 20 different EVs and every one has had a ‘neutral’ setting where you can just roll the car around like any other. And incredibly rare for EV motors to fail but very common for the RAC to be fairly clueless. I work with a fleet of 1000s of EVs covering getting on for a million miles a year and haven’t heard of a EV motor failure. Far more likely to be some electronic failure in the motor controller or cpu. Sounds like the owner might not understand their own car very well though if they can’t find neutral. Edit: two seconds search brings this up, might be useful for them in the future- Overview To select neutral in a Peugeot E-3008 with the automatic gear selector, you must have your foot firmly on the brake, then push the selector to the neutral position to disengage the gear. If the battery is dead, you may need to use the mechanical override, which involves inserting a small tool into a slot near the gear selector to release the transmission.
The owner reversed 10 yds at which point the dash lit up in a blaze of lights and was then unable to 'start' the car. Switching on & off made no difference. They've had 2 other similar, but not as critical, failures in the time they've had the car. The RAC man put it into neutral so we could push it down the road & he could tow it away.
Sounds like they either have A Friday afternoon car or are doing something weird to it. Failure rates are incredibly low on EVs, we have saved an absolute fortune over petrol/diesel/ hybrids as a business. Only know of one that had repeated significant issues but that was found to be down to the drivers excessive use of our industrial jet wash in areas that would killed an ICE vehicle as well. Early MGs had issues with charging units that stopped them charging on AC but they were soon sorted under warranty. Minis seem to have a lot of niggly issues like windows failing. VWs are crap, but that’s the design, they work how they should it’s just criminal that cars that poor are on sale. Even minor issues tend to make modern cars light up with multiple warnings whether EV or ICE. Mine had a wet leaf stick to the front camera last year on the M6 and the dash had about a dozen lights on. Part of the problem is that some drivers don’t even take 10 minutes to learn a new car. The days of the same controls whether it was a Cortina, Cavalier or 3 series have long gone. Modern cars take a ridiculous length of time to properly learn. I think there should be rules on what controls are allowed on touch screens and what have to be physical controls for example.
I was thinking of getting the emails of the owner & RAC man so a diagnostic zoom call could be set up... Gotta agree with the tech complexity, of pretty much everything, reasoning mind.
