Just outside Saffron Walden. More young families and cyclists than bikers but didn’t feel like a leper etc.. https://www.compasscourtyard.co.uk/
Ells Kitchen Cafe on the A420 just before the Cold Ashton Roundabout (A46 junction). Proper old school cafe with proper mugs of tea and proper sausage sandwiches. https://www.google.com/maps/place/E...try=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI1MDcxNS4xIKXMDSoASAFQAw==
Stopped at a café like https://jaykays.ie in Dublin on a bike ride once—grabbed a quick coffee and a pastry, and ended up hanging out way longer than planned. Great little spot to rest, chat, and refuel before hitting the road again. Definitely worth adding to your list of stops, especially if you want somewhere with a relaxed vibe and good food without feeling rushed.
We should have another one! I’ve been on this forum for three years I think, still haven’t met anyone!
it only needs an organiser.... i've been an "half-organiser" a couple of times, but I think it's too late for this year as usually have to plant the seed around June time.
The Nook Cafe on the A 689 Alston to Brampton road, Cumbria. A mile or so out of Alston. Handy for Hartside and the best north Pennines rides. Always plenty of bikes there and good grub. The Nook Farm Shop&Cafe - Bing Maps
These three in the Cotswolds area, apologies if already mentioned in the thread but I didn't see them pinned on the map: https://www.ctlmotorcompany.co.uk/ - also has a showroom of older/classic bikes for sale https://cotswoldairport.com/av8-restaurant-facilities-cotswold-airport/ - can sometimes see a Spitfire being flown for people who have booked trips. Also a 747 and Bristol Britannia open for tours on some days, plus an R/C car track where on somedays you can see some interesting stuff being run https://tetburygoodsshed.co.uk/cafe/ - decent cake here There is also a Caffeine and Machine at West Meon near Loomies. Average speed camera's on all roads into that area these days.
Caffeine & Machine at West Meon is just a pub that welcomes Classic Cars and motorbikes to park there, i could see the appeal of the first two but not impressed with the reception at last visit despite actually bringing the attraction. People can make their own mind up knowing that Loomies is a stone's throw away.
I'll try it out sometime. The A420 and A46 are good roads. That nearby roundabout is where I go right for the Bath park & ride, when I go to the theatre.
I used to commute to/from Bath on the A46 & because it's maintained by the National Highways it's pothole free. V.busy during rush hour & busy at other times. I never liked the A420 as much mind, yes it's a big fast wide road but there are way too many small country road T junctions with old duffers having had one too many pale ales not seeing you & pulling out at just the wrong moment...
Yes, but the A420 leads to other great roads The Castle Combe road (B4039) And the Avebury road: And the Lyneham road: It just leads you on . . . . .
