I used a contrasting black edge strip (also comes in tile colour) to finish the door entry edge, tidies things up and removes an awkward lil’ step. Black/White checkers seems like a classic motoring combo and sounds good in theory but looking at various photo's on the 'net I found it absolutely dominated the area, all you can see is the checkers, everything else pales against them. So the above looks like Grey/White checkers, but is actually Dark Grey/Light Grey to sit a little more in the background, and realistically white just isn't practical for a grot like myself. Yup, high point loading/dropped heavy/pointy objects will damage the tiles, but they are easily replaced, just be sure to order a few extra. They are breathable, so no problem with damp/spills (not talking a flood here), and if you have THAT much water accumulating you’re pretty much buggered with ANY floor covering: the number one cause of failure with paint or epoxy coatings is moisture migrating through the concrete.
Cheers everyone this is great info. the tiles I’m looking at are the interlocking 7mm ones, a few companies (garage floor and dramas)do them so plenty of options. My garage is only 3mx5.5m so looking at about £500ish. Hopefully will make garage look smarter (painted my walls white and that helped a lot as well) and also warmer. Yeah the abba really appeals as when not working on it the bike can be moved out of the way. Need to see how the abba attached to the RSV4 to see if the swing arm can be removed when attached as that would be a great bonus. I know I would have problem with a bench to remove the swingarm so just frame and engine would be left. The bench would also provide a work top. decisions decisions lol
If space is a premium Abba sell an additional storage bracket that significantly reduces its footprint. Well worth the money. Check their website.
