Hi, I have a 750 Dark and installed MIVV exhaust with the factory header pipes. Problem I am having is getting the units to point in a normal direction. If you look at the photos you can see each points inward. I have had to put shim washers to try to get the mufflers to point outward and align with swing arms. Mufflers have and will strike axle nuts because of this inward alignment. I have contacted MIVV but they were no help. Told me to spin the position of the adapter before each muffler which I did in every conceivable direction. It appears to me if the head pipe sliced into to allow a spread to align the mufflers and remove the spacers , maybe the adjusted position and spread could be welded up. Has anyone run up against a situation like this and possible advise on what type of tradesman could handle this? https://imgur.com/a/ezdqLlS
Do you have these? Hard to tell, as no true shot from the rear, but they do appear to twist inward slightly possibly as "standard". Have to say, they look pretty terrible - only one person's opinion.
I'm not sure what to do.. just tried removing the oil filler cap while running and the pulsing pressure blew it out of my hand and oil mist came out. I have. number of strange this leading me to believe the engine is very tired
That's helps a lot - i'm guessing that it is a "pipework" problem (as O.P. suggested) looking at picture, and so when you tighten the tube clamps (header to muffler) it overpowers the thin aluminium trailing arms that are waaay out on a limb anyway.
Looking at picture of L/H silencer, if you swivel this "clockwise" it ought to bring silencer parallel with bike centreline but possibly fouls somewhere* or brkt doesn't reach without tweaking*? Ditto for R/H except swivel would be anti-clockwise. You've obviously tried this - what happens?*
I tried everything.. remember I have those washers on the bracket and there is enough pressure that it is bending the brackets
Sorry to labour the point. but what happens when you swivel Left Hand Silencer clockwise until it is no longer pointing inward? - if this means you have to come up with different brackets then it might be a solution. If it fouls something else then obviously not a solution. Only other option is to modify output pipes from the cruxiform/"header" assy using heat. They are a low-grade stainless steel so not straightforward. No point me giving you a recommendation as they are U.K. based.
