New here, new to Ducati and new to big bikes in fact I only passed my MOD 2 yesterday! I did it all the wrong way round and fell for and purchased a Monster 695 back in November. Untill yesterday I had only ridden it round a caravan park a few times at slow speeds. I had a full service done, belts changed all fluids filters etc last month. So I passed my test, drove home and rode off into the Welsh hills around Devils Bridge (I live ten minutes from there), had just about the best hour of my life, it was runnning lovely!! Then I lost power and it cut out, and now it will crank but not start. Here's all the details I can think of. The guy I got the bike off hadn't been doing many miles on it over the last year or two. Filled fuel (E5 BP Super Unleaded) 10 min before the issue. Temps were between 90-110 on the ride. Roadside inspection I found the jubilee clips on the fuel pump were really loose. Fuel pump seems to prime, can hear it, feel it vibtate and it gurgles with the filler cap open. So my question is what should I be doing and in what order to chase the problem? Sorry for the long post. Ric.
Fuel pump sounds odd, might be the recording . Does the fuel pump run when cranking? Did they change the fuel filter on the service.
I checked the invoice this morning and it looks like they didn't change the filter. I'm away with work now so will get back and see if the pump runs when cranking.
If they recently changed filter in the tank I'd be looking for a hose that popped off in there. Wouldn't be the first time that's happened.
Thanks, buddy I may just do that, will keep you all posted on here of how I get on. Will get some easy start in it to see if it's electrical or fuel supply.
I am experimenting with how reliable ChatGPT is with fault diagnosis. On another post ChatGPT successfully diagnosed the issue at option 3 of its suggestions. https://chatgpt.com/share/69d8d178-85f0-8329-bebc-4919ea108c75
