Changed the plugs on a 1200 multi. What a POS design. Never complain about servicing costs if you have bought one of these
Pulled the Monster out of hibernation and gave the bike a full valet and pre MoT once over ahead of the big day on Wednesday. Took a blat over to MR and booked both Scramblers and the Monster in for services over the next 2 months. Also treated myself to a pair of tarty Ducati branded Spidi summer gloves Andy
Been wiring up the brake light for the rear on my Sons DRZ as it hasn't got the wires connected to the master cylinder, how it passed it's last MOT is a bit of a mystery. Perhaps the tester was plied with Choccie biscuits and in his/her Sugar rush forgot to check it? Finally re installed the cleaned carb on the other DRZ400, now putting it back together after having to move the subframe to get the carb out. There is probably a way to do it without having to resort to extreme measures but I didn't like the thought of scratching the frame which is a given such is the lack of space. Just ordered some exhaust studs as the fitted ones are odd, stud in one side and a bolt in the other and i'm loathed to sell it like that. Cable Ties can get in the sea for me, sick of the damn things being used in place of the correct clip or fastener.
When I did my 1260 Enduro I went to B&Q and brought one of their really cheap Magnusson ring spanners. Then thinned the ring end down on my bench grinder so it would fit over the plug but also within the head recess. It would obviously take longer with a hand file, but they are so crap it would be possible. Once it was wriggled over the plug it was a case of working the plug round 1 flat at a time by continuously repositioning the spanner. It took a while, but was far quicker than stripping the bike down more.

FWIW, you can get a link to the individual post by right-clicking it's number EDIT - apologies for the double post. Initially muffed up the screenshot
Getting it out is easy, I use a piece of rubber pipe on the end of the plug to get it started in the head
I like that Oil Cooler placement. Is that a well known mod? I don't think it's standard SL compared to the usual SS front mount. But am happy to be proved wrong.
I did a similar mod to mine for track day use, but mounted the rads much more vertically. Rads & hoses from Baines, brackets by me
Yep, you got it! I just realised though that one of the Termi Slash Cut dB killers has fallen out on the way home. Bugger!
Removed my Duessen map from the bike in preparation for it's first service and the rear drive shaft recall. As soon as I get it back I can put the map back on, as any software updates the dealer deems necessary, will play havoc with the bike if the map its still on there. Sadly as it's a critical compoenent I can't ride the bike until the 19th May which is when it is going in for the recall to be done, so all this fine weather is wasted on me of late. Oh well, looks like more gardening in the meantime, though I did manage to plant two palm trees. One around 4 ft and another that's around 7ft. Surprising just how big a hole in the ground the latter needed, to accommodate the mahoosive root ball.
