The forks don't just drop out, then. I suppose I'll have to go for the large tubular drift as per the wheel axle. Since maybe the forks can be straightened. From the bottom yoke.
Wow I'm struggling to picture exactly where that's come from on the bottom yoke. The only place I can think of is where the Steering stem fit's in, but on mine that's a blind hole(until I drilled it for a paddock stand) and I think Threaded. I think we need a picture of the other bit.
One of the fork clamp bolts. I was about to ask if we think it can be welded (I bet not!). Having just spent time trying to find a replacement yoke. Shame it's not 58mm, I'd already have bought one.
Judging by the picture it looks like a cheapo cast? So can't be welded. I probably am wrong. All the same much sympathy.
Ah, that makes sense now, it's a smaller lump than I thought. If you get stuck I"ve got a spare bottom yoke, but it's got a lock stop lug broken off it, which would be easier to repair.
Just got back from the house converting to jpg, since even severely cropped the png was too big. That's a welcome offer and I may take you up on that! Yes, it would be easier wouldn't it.
I gripped the fork legs (with my hands. The keyboard suggested with my head. Is that AI, or what?) and turned them and actually they come out easily.
So I just ordered the tool for the steering tube nut. Now I'm failing to perceive the precise nature of the 'Universal puller' Quite pleased, however, at figuring out how to extract the image from the manual on the Linux laptop and Bluetooth it to this phone. Only to wonder why I'm doing this from the phone and not the laptop...
34220342A is the superceded number. It looks like I can get a new one - eventually - from the EU for £400 - £500 quid. Plus, no doubt, the considerable extra Customs slaps on. I might even go for it, but waiting for new stock doesn't appeal. Christ what a price for a bottom yoke!
I'd jerry rig a homemade puller...you have the image as a guide...Just start welding some steel scrap up!
That's the other puller, for the bearing race. the one i'm waiting for is for the steering head nut. Should be here by the weekend. Boy am I pissed off with this Firefox on Debian.

Well, for a start I don't like modern Firefox at all. But I'll put up with it under certain circumstances. The lack of automatic capitalisation is what was bugging me. And I couldn't find settings to address it. I've installed Pale Moon and Waterfox now. (I used Mint from more-or-less the beginning until they dropped KDE)
