I'm close to purchasing one or other of these bikes. any help on deciding would be great thanks people. I mostly shoot into town and short journeys so maybe the 821? cheers Steve
821 is a great bike I’d recommend it but not sure about the 1100 , it’s a pity you’re not in Ireland because I’m selling my 821
I've owned both and think that the 821 is a better ride for town work. The 1100 fueling was awful in 30 limits even with O2 eliminators, it was a lovely torque Monster and great fun when making progress with the exception of the front forks. The 821 just felt more sophisticated, less of a Ducati in a way.
I had a 796, similar to the 1100. My dad had an 821 which I borrowed for a trip to Scotland and did just over two thousand miles on it. It was better in every way possible.
Agree with above, 821 fuelling is superb compared to earlier Evo, but i don't like the battery and electrics location in the swingarm. Meant to add, i prefer it's looks to earlier, and really love the swoopy, deep-pressing steel tank shape far more than the earlier "fake" tank models.
I had an 821, cracking bike and I still miss it. got a nice SC project end can for it if you end up getting one let me know
