  1. Disqo, I have seen others have done that too, looks a good idea. My Christmas list is starting to take the piss. To be honest, I've not been that good.

  2. those look like standard stock termi pipes? so them termi stickers you have are just for show?

  3. No, the 2002 996 came with OEM Road legal Tergi's. I think.

  4. Sorry, just 're read. I think the stickers should be on as they fit over an engraving of the Termi symbol. Don't know for sure.

  5. yeah, but they dont suppose to have termi stickers on them

  6. Ah OK. I think the previous owner was a little sticker happy.

  7. :Hilarious:

  8. What colour is the bike? ;)

  9. Cream_revenge,

People refer to bolts as cheese bolts when they are poor quality. As in break as if they were cheese.
My bike came with loads of stainless cap head bolts and although they weren't rusty they looked very industrial. So I've changed mine back to original. Stainless bolts are fine but be careful when using them on sidestand brackets or footpegs. Those bolts should always be steel.

If I was you I'd buy the spare side stand bracket off here and compare it to yours to see if it's bent. That's all the garage will do. Then reassemble your side stand assembly with fresh grease etc.

If you're not confident to do a bit of fitting then better to take it to the garage otherwise you might find your bike taking a nap on the floor.

The rear caliper bolt will probably be ok it will be the thread in the carrier. Remove your caliper and the hanger. You might be able to save it by running a tap through the thread but if there's nothing left of the thread then either buy another hanger or you can drill the hole larger, tap it and helicoil it back to the correct thread size.

    Hope that helps

  10. That's the best lunch hour I have had in a long time.

Firstly, Abba stands are awesome. Only irritation is it flicks up the side stand and you can't get it back down again and that I could not remove the fairing past the side stand. Note to self, remove fairing before putting on Abba stand.

Secondly, the fairings are amazingly easy to get off (if you take them off before putting on the Abba stand) and put on again (sideways screwdriver through the D clip required for the two under the belly pan, I would imagine caused by a little dirt).

The bottom bolt for the stand was 1/4 turn loose. I have tightened her right up (1/4 turn with a poxy little allen key so not over tight I would imagine) and it looks better, pics below. Opinions please.

Also, am I right in saying the cut-out switch has ben unplugged? Would this be so you could start it on the side stand to warm her up?

The engine looks in good condition although a little flaking silver paint but she is nearly 15 years old so I imagine this is normal.

However (ain't there always) I could not see any oil through the site glass when on the Abba stand? Is this normal as the oil goes to the front? I have not held her bolt upright not on a stand yet to check if any oil appears.

    Peace

  11. Also (again), does this front sprocket look a little worn? the rear looks OK to me.
14T front, that's not standard is it.

PS, don't they look dirty close up on a stand when you get in close. Mucho cleaning this winter.

  12. It looks like the sidestand cutout swith has been disconnected - no wires going to it plus red insulating tape on what is probably the original wiring.

Sprocket looks fine - very serviceable.

  13. Sprockets look fine, lean of stand look fine.Mmmmm, bit of dirt about.Time to stockpile various cleaners/rags etc,for over the winter.

  14. Is that slightly bubbly/flaky paint average for a 14 1/2 year old Italian?

  15. Yes they all do that!

  16. Depends what emulsion they had laying about at the time........So yes.

  17. For stubborn long term crap to clean id recommend buying a bottle of SDOC 100 bike cleaning gel.Take the fairings off & cover it in the stuff ,scrub the chain sprockets brakes and other parts covered in crap, leave for half a hour or so and rinse.

Will bring that bike up a treat.

  18. Cheers Matt, and it's ok on the brake discs and I don't need to worry about getting it on the pads?
