Feeling your distress (been there). Easy to see why bikes are written off so easily.
I have used brake cleaner to clean calipers on bikes and cars for decades and never had any problems.

If you can’t find it,just cut it off and crimp on some bullet connectors or such like.
If it was me would replace that part retest and see what codes disappear.
Pull is a little bit easier it is noticeable but wouldn’t say it’s a great difference.
