Full Throttle Booster Plug ?

Discussion in 'Scrambler' started by Greaser, Apr 26, 2017.

  1. Has anyone fitted a "Booster plug" on there Scrambler...

for those who may not be familiar with this gadget it similar to a power commander but much cheaper & does not need a Dyno run to set it up...just plug & play...see hear on youtube

  2. Normally I am sceptical of this type of thing - but thought well lets try it.

I found one on one of the scrambler forums for sale for half price

Takes about 20 minutes to fit (getting to wiring plug) under tank

And yes - it does work - it just makes bike think its 20 degrees colder outside - so it adds slightly more fuel - (0.5 to 1% more) and the bike runs smoother

Obviously the temp display on dash is out 20 degrees too.

  3. Thanks for reaching out
Sounds OK then , but what I dont understand is someone obviously took it off their Scrambler to sell it on..i wonder why

  4. Because they sold the bike and took off all the goodies to sell to get some of the money back.

  5. I got some o2 eliminators off eBay and removed the o2 sensors from the exhaust, sorts the bottom end right out . £23 I think they were.

  6. Just fitted a Booster plug to my Desert Sled

Doesn't feel as asthmatic now, it used to pink (detonate) slightly when cruising when you opened the throttle, but not anymore

Overall a good easy fix to get around the new emission regulations

Air temp gauge doesn't read correctly, as it adjust to a lower temp for better fuelling, but I can live with that

  7. Might be a silly question but where can you purchase a Booster Plug from?

  8. I fitted a Booster Plug to my previous BMW F800ST and yes there was a subtle improvement in smoothness and torque at the low end. I had a bit of a job convincing my insurer that it was not a "performance modification" however.

  9. Another way; Total remap of scrambler ECU; no add-on control, requires an ignition remap as well, Kit comes from Todd Paterson at Bunbary Ducati. the midrange is significantly "filled in" ant the top end is not sacificed. Red is Modified Curve. The modified bike is even more punchy, wheel stands easier; squirts better around city roads. IMG_1072.JPG

  10. Was it just a remap or more?

  11. different airbox, and very different throttle-body bell mouths
search ; Todd Paterson Bunbarry Ducati

  12. This is the Intake Express Kit - yes - remember reading about it 18 months ago when they were developing

    I take it you approve!

  13. Got one on my DVT and it works as it should. Makes the bike much less 'snatchy' at lower revs. Temp display on the +15 bikes should read normal as the dash temp is taken from another sensor.

  14. No other way to get these results, these engines are not going to produce more reves Hp=plan horsepower=bmep X lenght of stroke X piston area X number of strokes (revs) the problem is the 2 valve head, and port angles there is no way to improve its flow above 7500/8000rpm without expensive surgery, (re-angle ports, squish bands, combustion shape, valve angles) so this is amazing because it seems to increase the bandwidth of "on the cam"

  15. the kit is reasonable priced ; finding somebody to remap a Ducati ECU could be a problem?

  16. He was planning to offer a rexxer kit with it - did that not happen?

  17. no Todd had problems altering the ignition map; So has collaborated with ? Jason Klashorst to remap the Ducati ECU but has to purchase a "key": to allow access to the Ducati maps in the Oem ECU and modify the ignition curve
Todd need to do this; because he wouldnt allow release of the Kit untill he was sure the best possible map was able to be provided. He was unable to be sure the Rexxer provided the best possible outcomes; after the remap of the standard hardware was accomplished it was thought the OEM remap worked better. Contact Todd +61 897217470and find out if I got it right
What an amazing punchy 805cc scrambler, difference like night and day, hardly lost any hp on top, if it had been tuned for topend, I dont think it would possibly even held the standard midrange, this way the bike is transformed to ride, and the reasons why it is so much fun to ride, have just increased. Todds number? am I allow to publish it here?
