848 Tst Integrated Brake Light

Discussion in '848 / 1098 / 1198' started by Ash Hussain, Apr 21, 2019.

  1. Apparently they aren’t legal to pass the UK MOT, something about spacing between the indicators. I hid some LED indicators behind the little vents in the tail piece

  2. Damn. Should have checked that before ordering them. Lol.

How about front LED lights? Indicators etc? You using anything?

  3. Indicators need to be 180mm between centres.

  5. Yep. Just found it on the uk.gov site.
Suppose it depends on how strict the MOT guy is.

  6. Thanks bud. But I just ordered the TST ones. No MOT due till end of summer. I’ll swap em out for originals if it fails.

  8. I know of two bikes that have failed in the past week at different stations for these type of lights. Bear in mind that it’s not just the MOT that they cause problems with, they fail because of construction and use rules. You can get pulled and ticketed to. If the testers have had a tighten up, the police may well have had the same memo......

  9. A few of us back in 2016 bought these from Brian, as he used to frequent this forum. Maybe put a Wanted ad out @Ash Hussain, you never know.

  10. Wow. They look awesome. Chaps not in business anymore. But I’ll see if I can find from somewhere.
    Thanks buddy.

  11. Mot doesn't really matter... Just disconnect the indicators, get a standard plate, bolt a set of cheap indicators to the stock plate, get it mot'd then change it back. . Takes me 10mins...

  12. I went and measured the gap. From the right indicator to the left (TST). Am out by 50mm.
Hopefully won’t be picked up on.

Have you got the TST setup?

  13. No but have integrated rears on my Z1000 and rsv4... Wired in temporary indicators for the last 4 years...

  14. I have the tst rear light and it's a good piece of kit but the advantage here is we don't have the annual mot so nothing to worry about there.

  15. Got the Brakers set up with the TST on mine, but only as a stop light

The TST tail light is the best I have seem IMHO

On the Brakers I found the control box a bit flimsy and the wiring loom between the components tight, it all worked in the end but it was a little bit of a faff

As I recall for the Brakers lights & indicators to work, the lights have to be on. Not a problem for most but I have the lights modified so I can switch them off, really just for maintenance if I'm testing something but it's just for info

Here is just a short vid of the bike but skip to 2:20 to see the tail light and Brakers Unit

  16. Absolutely gorgeous. Love the lights in the vents.
Is that breakers kit in the vents?

  17. Thanks, Yes that is the Brakers Kit, alongwith the TST.

With the Brakers I had to secure them with Duct Tape as I found his adhesive pads insufficient. That said they have been in the bike quite a whiile now and there have been zero problems

As I've got Kellerman indicators at the rear already, I just set the kit to activate with the brakes only

I wanted to make the brake lights as visible as I could, the indicators work well too, I just elected not to use them

  18. I use the TST unit, but I also have a set of motogadget m.blaze edge as well - so there are lots of brake lights as well as the indicators. My first MOT didn't like the TST unit (quoting the seperation) and I pointed out as they were secondary indicators the rule didn't apply - the swallowed that quite happily. Really tidies up the rear end without breaking the law (even a little bit..)
