1260 Ducati Multistrada 1260 V4 !! 190hp

  1. So just reading up on the Bosch motorcycle radar system people are predicting will come to future multis. A technology I believe nobody needs. Automatically maintains a safe following distance. So moving down the motorway in the high speed lane in traffic, making your progress. The system keeps you at the proper 2 second following distance and cars will constantly be moving in between you and the vehicle in front, so you fall back and fall back as cars tailgate you. That's not how I ride in the high speed lane in traffic. I also hug the line by the slower lane so I can see the road surface well ahead. Which lane is the radar going to scan then?
    Warning messages and signals on the dash or on the rear view mirror. Do we really need more distractions while we scroll through our music list, make phone calls, or accept texts? Probably not.

    Why are these cans so huge? If it's about emissions are they filled with catalyst from end to end ?
     
  3. If it works like that, it’ll suck. But I think what you’re describing is a low-performance car radar, the kind that’s fitted to a Golf for example. I can’t imagine the test riders in Borgo Panigale signing off on that sh1t, can you?
     
  4. If it's anything like the system fitted to my my Tiguan the following distance is adjustable via steering wheel controls. A camera sees the white lines and only recognises vehicles in the same lane. Works well but with the default distance you're right, in so much as UK drivers are concerned, cutting in drivers push you further back.

    I was somewhat sceptical but it came fitted as standard to the car. In fact it's a pretty useful gadget on our crowded motorways. Not so sure I'd be comfortable with it on a bike though, very rarely use cruise control on my 1260 Mutley but I do try and avoid motorways when on the bike.

  6. Yes, the adjustment would be essential.
    I certainly have no interest in this technology. As for a V4 in the multi, well I'm old school and Ducati to me means a 90 degree v twin. I rode every model VFR for near 30 years (good God) and quite loved them. After riding the multi for a year I tried a vfr1200 adv, So glad I had the multi v twin

  8. Bugger, that gives me a dilemma. My 1200 is 8 years old in March and will have 40,000 miles on it so it's at the back of my mind to change it. Now I have to decide if I'm going to go 1260 or wait another year for the V4, when I'll be 67 ! Andy
