I've just done this on my 996, if you buy new it ain't cheap, but you can use the original bracket that bolts on the engine and use a 1098 side stand , you also have to change the bolt that goes though the stand into the bracket as the shoulder is slightly longer.
Any idea how much the bolt was? I assume it’s readily available from a dealers parts department? Thanks
@Danny748s Hi mate think the bolt was about £30 from memory, but yes available from the dealers. And it's a great mod.
And does the stand still flick up automatically or do you have to put it up manually f you’ve changed it for the 1098 one?
Yeah they wanted £80 on eBay and it had the “make an offer” option so put in a cheeky bid and they accepted. going to clean it up and spray it before fitting it to my 748.

If anyone has a standard 748/916 stand gathering dust going cheap I would be interested, after all they are no good to you if they're too short. Steve
pretty sure i do.. in fact i may have 2.. i vaguely remember buying a polished one a good few years back (why i didnt just get my one polished if i wanted shiney i cant remember!) when i get a chance i will go through my boxes of bits...
