I want to do an oil and filter change when I can, did I read somewhere I have to remove the centre stand? 1200 dvt 2016 sport touring. Need to go to mothers after a heart operation to take supplies so will go the long way both ways.

Hmmm, it says you can’t remove the belly pan until the stand is off, I can, and have done many times to clean and powder coat it. But I didn’t know about the gauze filter, best I get a new gasket etc for that before I start.

Good. My dealer used Motul 300V after i returned from the TT last year. Bike feels terrible. The gear change is really notchy and mechanical feeling, not impressed at all so will be doing my own oil change again once the bike comes out after the lockdown and going back to Shell.
Interesting you say that, I'm guessing they put Motul in my 1200 Enduro when I bought it (not a Duc dealer, and the sell Motul oil) and I thought I had a gearbox problem it was so awful. Changed to Shell and seems much better since.
Of course it has changed. The Mark I Multi 2010-14 and the Mark II DVT Multi 2015-20 are completely different bikes. Very few parts are the same, and certainly not the belly-pan.
Yep, that is one of the great things, popping it up on the centrestand to do the oil. Remove the belly pan and away you go, easy peasy!
Better still, remove the front belly pan bolts only, and pivot the whole pan downwards around the rear screws. Gives adequate access to the drain plug and filter. [NB Mark II only - the Mark I arrangement is different].
I stand corrected and will always consider the DVT as a completely different bike to the classic 1200
BigAlan, regarding the gauze filter, I don't think you need a gasket for the cover plate now. I asked this question to my dealer a year or so back when preparing for an oil change and was advised they dont use them now, they use grey engine sealant instead. Dont take my word for it, best to check with someone who knows better (@nelly or your dealer)
Motul 300V is not recommended for road bikes, it lacks the detergents that reduces the build up of crud, especially in engines that have a wet clutch. Never felt any issue with Motul 7100 in my Multistrada Mk1 1200 but my dealer is transitioning back to Shell, so that is what it will get. I still favour 300V for my V4 but that is solely for the track use and regardless of the cost, the oil is changed after every 3 days on track. Andy
