Bike Storage Problem

Discussion in 'Clothing, Gadgets & Equipment' started by Symon Moore, May 28, 2020.

  1. Friend of mine is about to lose his bike storage (currently rents out a neighbours garage). He doesn’t have much space & is looking at something like this but it’s as ugly as sin & his missus says no. Any ideas as to what else would fit onto a standard sized drive or by the side of a small detached house?

  3. Disguise it as a shed - or Playhouse...

  4. I've seen much smaller smarter solutions than that, will try to dig them out, it just needs to fit the bike in right? nothing else? and be heavy enough to bolt down

  5. That metal bin would end up with so much condensation inside it that the bike would corrode anyway.

  7. Not the cheapest solution, but a great option with the ability to turn it into a workshop too with power heating and multiple sizes and options. https://www.gardenstudio.co.uk/

We have one as a home gym and games room and currently my pandemic isolation office at our house and it is well worth the investment.

  8. Too posh to keep it in the kitchen?

  9. I’m sure it is but “not the cheapest option” is putting it mildly & space is far too limited for that!

  10. House too small & anyway it’s a ZZR1400 so wouldn’t fit through the door!

  11. They do make exterior "carcoons" for bikes. Depends on how much security is a must...

  12. 10' shipping container and clad it with wood to look like a garden building :upyeah:

  13. I used to have one in the garden and agree that’s the route I would have gone down just decorate it

  14. Surely he could get a flat pack shed and fit it out the back? Something that doesn’t look like a sardine can

  15. Garden Shed with a bit of cheap insulation would be a temporary solution. My Pani was in the house for 3 years but had to spend last winter in an old wooden shed. I used a dust cover and plenty of WD40 and it survived a really wet & cold Cornish winter just fine.

  16. My ST4 survived in a wooden shed for a couple of years, make sure it's a decent shed and not a B&Q special offer - the wood will provide insulation and condensation control better than a metal shed :upyeah:
