Discussion in 'Wanted' started by Fire3500, May 30, 2018.

  1. As per title, kind of need one if anyone has one laid on a shelf waiting for a new home!

    Cheers

  2. Non-available.. How did you get around it as I have the same problem :/

  3. New master cylinder or used item are the options it seems...

  4. I got a Brembo kit to rebuild mine about 6 years ago from a KTM dealer was told the sell them and they did. Was told also ducati didn’t sell them as of a lawsuit in USA but unsure if that’s true
    hope it helps

  5. i have a couple of 999 masters will pm you

  6. I bought an Aprilia one on eBay, used, and changed the reservoir over, all fine now .. Thanks for all the help !

  7. I've tried multiple KTM dealers, but none of them are any help. Does anyone know a Model bike that is compatible or a part number?

  8. There are no kits as they were never made, deliberately apparently. You have to get a used or new (very expensive) complete one . Thread 3 You can only change the reservoir..

  9. Yeah, that's the same thing I seem to be finding. I saw a few people said they got a KTM rebuild kit, but noone ever posted the Make/Model or P/N. I'm wondering if it was just the dust boot.

I'm going to try n find a hydraulic seal company n see if they can match anything up. I'll post info if I can find anything.

  10. I tried the seal company route, and nothing . Eventually a breakers and £ 250 ! they are becoming very rare !

  11. I looked inti this a short while ago as I was going to rebuild the Brake and Clutch M/Cs on my 999 whilst I was rebuilding it, but the lack of a readily available kit has meant I am going to see how the brakes perform before trying a rebuild.

If they do need rebuilding I was going to attack the problem from two directions.

    1) send a sample seal off to one of my suppliers at work to see if they can match it.

    2) I was going to buy one of these kits:
    https://www.kelgate.com/product-page/piston-seal-kit-18mm-master-cylinder.

When it arrived I would check the dimensions of the piston in the kit compared to Brembo one and see how close they are.
If possible I'd modify the seal groove in the Brembo piston to accept the seals in the kit, or make some new pistons in my lathe with the Brembo dimensions in every respect except the seal groove which I'd copy from the piston in the kit.

Perhaps I'll order a kit anyway.
Does anyone have a knackered 18mm M/C they've discarded that they would sell me very cheap to experiment on?

  12. I have the worn one I replaced , you can have it just pay the postage , PM me ?

  13. I have one I think I’ll check in the shed in the morning Do you still need one?

  14. PM on it's way shortly

  15. Yep, and S-D are one of my go to suppliers for parts.

Unlike many similar suppliers they are very responsive to emails, and when I asked a few months ago they confirmed they do not sell a rebuild kit for the 18mm Master cylinders, which is backed up by your link which doesn't appear to show one.

  16. @Nasher did you have any joy with this, I may be in exactly the same boat..

    Cheers
