This sounds shite, the only th8ng I’m wondering, my mate just ordered a sprocket from AR racing that the claimed would fit the rental carrier he has for his 748, and it doesn’t fit... is there something dodgy going on with AR and what they are supplying?
Perhaps crossed wires or incorrect information.... only saying as I’ve used AR Racing for a good number of years, They have really comprehensive knowledge on anything to do with drivetrains for motorcycles! Just saying
I'll be careful how I answer that ! Sort of yes, I sent him measurements of the sprocket carrier and sprocket to show the height from the base of the carrier. Andy suggests I need a 183 carrier. I spoke to the supplier of it today and sent them some pics too. They have had to send to Renthal as they suggest 182 and think that Renthal 'may have dropped a bollock' on it. Lets see what comes back though and I'll update.
Heard back today. After much investigating, also with Renthal themselves (they listed 182 on their site for the V2) by the supplier of the kit, talking to a couple of Tri Options chaps etc, it appears as @andyb suggested that I need a 183 carrier so they are sending one out to me. Once I've had chance to fit it, I'll update again as this might be useful to someone else in the future.
Quick update. New carrier arrived (183) and fits much much better. Very slightly off, but I'm getting the chain and front sprocket changed Tuesday and from what @Dave dunlop said, that might fully align it anyway. If not, I'll prob put the washers behind the sprocket to add the extra mm or 2. New 183 Original for reference
Looking better now think mine was around 1mm out, front sprocket seemed to sort out any slight indifference in tolerance. Must be some kind of plus or minus figures that are acceptable when fitting this aftermarket stuff certainly know it still has some wiggle room. Just so long as it’s running inline and nice and true up against the plastic chain guide on the swinging arm
Seems that way. I guess they assume the person installing knows what they're doing and it's not some idiot like me . I'm getting Ducati to change the front sprocket at the same time as the chain as I don't have a chain tool and the front sprocket is a pig to access (didn't realise this when I started ) so I'll make sure they double check alignment for me even though I'm sure they will.
Now all good. Blitzed round track and fine. Renthal now changed their product mapping too. I shall send them an invoice hope all this helps someone in future
Anyone got a D183 to sell me to fit my 1299s, been waiting 4 weeks from B&C and this week they are still telling me no idea of when stock will arrive?
Still waiting for a 42 tooth sprocket. They told me renthal have just never caught up and at one point they had to stop production due to a covid outbreak. Don't know if true or not, but I know there is a massive backlog.
