Does anyone know if there is a cheaper alternative for the neutral switch? £30+ seems very expensive. (Honda cb 500 one is very similer but just slightly short £10)
Fiat is usually a good source for alternatives at car prices and usually the exact, same component. You may find something here: https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/alternatives-to-the-genuine-ducati-parts.594/
had a look on ebay found the part number did a google search and then found this on ebay £16.49 free delivery brand new found searching by part number works better Ducati Neutral Light Switch | 848 1098 1198 696 796 etc | OEM 53910211B Genuine 7425047866830 | eBay
Just a note, the early neutral switch has one wire and the later ones have 2 wires. Have you taken it out and tested the switch? Quite possibly it may just need a thicker or thinner shim/ washer.
Thanks for the replies will check out that one ebay as that's a more reasonable price. The problem with the switch is it has started leaking oil through it. (Its a one wire switch).
Thanks again have ordered that one on ebay. @johnboy your ebay searching skills are far better than mine i couldnt find that when i searched on ebay.
as with a lot of parts they are not exclusive to the ss range and fit an array of other models how to save money use the same part for every thing lol
If the CB500 one fits snug and works properly, I’d give it a try. Maybe just double-check the thread size and connection type. Worst case, a small spacer or washer might help with the length issue.
