The incredibly heavy clutch on my 750SS was spoiling my enjoyment of the bike after only a few miles. I looked at various options, including machining a sleeve to fit the existing master cylinder to improve the ratio. Someone mentioned a radial master cylinder being more efficient so I started looking at possible ones that might fit. Ideally with a 12mm bore the same as the existing one. Long story short, they are pretty much unobtainium. I saw 14mm ones and after a lot of reading and comparing stats I thought it was worth a chance. Best (sort of calculated) guess was that it would 20-40% lighter pull. One was ordered and fitted. Weather then was either terrible or I was working, or I was out on the MTS with mates so it’s been a few weeks……... So today I took it out for a test run and am impressed with the results. It certainly isn’t as light as the MTS but is very much noticeably lighter than it was. I can even find neutral at lights now, a previously unknown luxury. I can’t see the neutral light so will need to investigate LED bulbs, 1st problems eh? Previously my wrist tendons were painful after less than 10 miles and town riding was awful. I picked a purposefully crap route today and after about an hour my wrist was just starting to complain. I would guess that would equate to at least a couple of hours on a good route. Overall a very worthwhile bit of work for a grand total of less than £50.
I bought an Adelin brand one from China. Mostly to test the theory but saying that the quality is suprisingly good. I stripped it and checked the tolerances and it’s bang on. Seals looked to be the same as brembo, but would need a set from each to confirm. They are widely available in a range of sizes from 14-18mm, but 14mm are the least common.
Like this one, but I bought direct from AliExpress: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/16634115...e=1&gbraid=0AAAAADihhqW5AKrtA49MjKwPcCLWs1QH7 Have to say that no way would I risk using one of these for brakes, but for clutch there is no safety issue.
