Mot Question

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by yellowducmaniac, May 7, 2025.

  1. I recently fitted a mono seat unit to my 916 bip, will it pass an MOT test without the pillion footrests fitted?, obviously the brackets are still present on the frame for the rear footrests.
    TIA.

  2. Based on the experiences in past posts, unless things have changed, unlikely. Probably expedient if you remove the whole bracket. Andy

  3. Yes

  4. Brackets are welded onto the frame, pillion footrests do fit with the mono seat unit fitted though, i'll probably fit the footrests regardless, just to be on the safe side... it seems some testers will pass it ,some wouldn't.

  5. If there is no seat pad the footrests are not required as you shouldn't carry a pillion without a pad in any case?

  6. It will pass. The rules are crystal clear. Here's a screen shot.

  7. It will pass. MOT’d my 1198 with footrests removed and the seat cowl fitted (single seat) with no problems.

  8. You need foot pegs for each seat. One seat means one set.

I've Mot'd many bikes without pillion seats & pillion foot pegs and never had a problem.

  10. Mine passed fine.

  11. Yep it’s a pass, I don’t even have them for my 899, has a single seat cowl fitted.

  12. If you do this without refitting the pillion seat it will definitely fail.
