When preparing for a tour, I normally add waypoints to my Sat Nav route download for the nearby Ducati dealers / service garages. I thought I'd put them all together and add the missing ones based on the Ducati "Locate a Dealer" web pages. Well I almost wish I hadn't started as it proved to be a real pain, trying to find the address and then confirm in Google Maps that that the dealer was still at that address. I also added the independents from a Google Map created by input from this forum. I created the Waypoints file using Garmin Basecamp and then used the Garmin POI loader to create a Points of Interest file. As it's not possible to attach .gpx (Waypoints) and .gpi (Points of Interest) files directly to a post, I've put the files in a folder on my Google Drive. Use them at your own risk, as I've done the best I can for now. Any corrections or suggestions for additions, please message me. I might have another go at checking and correcting the files in the winter.
Hi @steveb123 I wanted to add these to my new Zumo XT Sat Nav. Can you talk me through the easiest way to do this pleeeeezzzzzeeee!
I think I might have done it, I used the Garmin POI loader app and the .gpx file, not sure if this add the little logo as well?
The other option was to copy the .gpi file into the POI directory into the "Internal Storage" directory on the Zumo XT, when connected via USB. I'm not sure the icon will be used on the Zumo XT.
It’s strange that the new XT isn’t showing up on my Mac desktop like the old Garmin used to, means I can’t see the drive to copy files
it does, if the BMP file has the same name as the poi file. I have just loaded them onto mine using the Garmin POI loader, and works fine, after some file renaming.
Not updated it for a least 4 years. Not sure if I'll get a chance to do an update before the EMM this year (June 2025) as it will take a while - more of a job for this winter
This has somewhat lost relevance for me as now using MRA Nav Next so can just do a Google search for Ducati and navigate to the nearest dealer of my choosing. Indi workshops that proclaim themselves as Ducati capable also show up.
I'd rather keep the dealer details screen-shotted on my phone. Then if needed, I'd put the details into the satnag and head on from there. Well done and good luck to you Steve123, I simply couldn't be bothered to put the energy or indeed the shear amount of time into this 'task'.
Kind of true, probably easier to just search on your phone and then put the address in, I’ll let you off Steve!
The last and only time I wanted to find a Ducati dealer, I used phone phone to search the list on Ducati website. So thanks for the comments and I won't be updating the list and might even remove the POIs from my sat nav. By the way, the reason I wanted to find the nearest Ducati dealer was to have the gear change on my new Multi V4S checked out as I thought it was very clunky in low gears at low revs. Turns out it the chain needed adjusting. The bike had less than 1,000iles on it and may the chain was still breaking in even after the first service at 600 miles, where I assume the change tension was checked and adjusted (or maybe not). Anyway the dealer in Norway stopped what he was working on, went for a quick test ride and adjusted the chain for me - all free of charge
