  4. Tis a lucrative business rebuilding SXV motors....! :)

    He already had 2 or 3 on the bench when my nightmare turned up....

    Could have been a lot worse but at the same time you could do without the grief.

  6. So far everyone thats commented hasnt seen it....im in for a crank and shells to him but i got off lucky....engine is back with me now, going in saturday night.

    Might sound weird to a lot of people but once it had failed i was almost happy (in a weird way) to get the motor out...

    Quite excited to get in there saturday night....

  8. It will be (and it was!)...just got the engine back in this morning. And, i have to say its probably the easiest engine ive ever refitted....so im told by one of the lads on the forum i think from bench to riding about an hour and 40 mins... prepped engine with no fuel start to get oil round the shells. Prime the fuel pump and it started straight away.

  9. Out of interest as i'm still interested in buying one how much ball park does he charge for a rebuild?

    I'd like to factor in the cost should a newly purchased bikes engine do the dirty.

    I think he charges 400 labour for a full rebuild + parts and carriage. I think he's got a bike on ebay at the moment but he's away on holiday for another 3 weeks...
    Ironically tonight I just sourced a crank that I owe him once I've got that paid off there's another guy holding a crank for me which will be my spare.
    Its all back together now...been out on a few times and it's been fine....I've not heard the fan come on yet but I don't know if it's getting hot enough but it feels hot...apparently the fan comes on a 102.5c.

    Not got the neutral light working yet but that's a work in progress...

    Despite everything that it's put me through...its an amazing bike....it draws more attention than anything else I've ever ridden....!

    Just wanted a little more info than I can glean off the internet, so i'm going in eyes wide open. I've eyes on 4 ATM in various price brackets trying to work out whether to spend more on a sorted version or buy a cheaper unknown,

    Yes still looking, my Son may have it though as he's outgrown his 125 and with a restrictor fitted it can be ridden on an A2 licence, but if not i'll have it. Been into Supermoto bikes for a long time now, possibly my first was just a KE 50 that got restyled a little. I then got hold of a SWM 250 enduro and plonked SM wheels on it, that was little nuts though and only used for hooning locally.
