Soooo, I pulled the trigger on the Duessen Engines map and flasher unit. The map is a huge improvement over the Termi UpMap in that it retains the 2 cylinder de-activation and is much smoother on throttle pick up and release, but it still needs some tweaking, however it has made the bike so much more rideable on the road. Still not a fan of the grabby dry clutch but I am wrestling with the economic viablity of switching back to a wet set up, which makes pulling away from a standstill less of a thought intensive process.
Surprised you’re thinking about switching to a wet set up. I went the other way- wet to STM dry. I don’t find it grabby at all. That said, as a track dayer, I only ever use it pulling away for a session. The dry set up is way better imo. Easier maintenance, no fluid drag and cleaner oil. On the downside there’s longevity. A wet set up will last a bit longer. And grabbiness apparently Plus the dry set up looks and sounds way cooler! * Economic viability? You?
Omg loud clutches do save lives...... But when I pull into a bike meet, and every Tom,Dick and Sally stop what they are doing to watch you park up,its like Im all fingers and thumbs and have never ridden a bike before... Which happened to me yesterday,to which I then proceeded to stall the bike lol D'oh !!!
Don't worry about it, you can always blame it on the dry clutch ;-) I rode into work once and the manager followed me into the motorcycle shed and said to me 'Mark, there's something wrong with your motorbike, it sounds dreadful!" I said "it's supposed to sound like that"
I’ve had dry slipper clutches on two of my Ducatis. Both were great on the track, awful on the road. The one I had on a 1098 was particularly bad. Pulling away was a nightmare. It culminated with mega embarrassment at that cafe just south of Bridgenorth (which has sadly gone now). Hot Sunday. Cafe packed. Lots of punters outside on the terrace. Up a ramp into the car park. Trying to pull away up the ramp. Slip, slip, slip, grip, stall. Slip, slip, slip, grip, stall. Repeat. In the end I gave up and rode on somewhere else. Dark visor down the whole time…
