950 2025 Multistrada V2s Gps Connector Lead

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by iansp, May 12, 2025.

  1. Hi,
Does anyone know where the GPS connector lead is on the new 2025 Multistrada V2S.
I want to connect my Garmin Zumo XT but I cannot find the white square shaped plug with the connecting wires encased in waxy material (assuming I am looking for the right thing!).
    Any information very gratefully received.
    Many thanks,
    Ian

  2. On the Old one - it was under the front of the Tank on the LHS - just pull the covers off the fairing.

On the V4 its under the covers on teh RHS near the power socket.

So look in both those places.

Sorry can not be more help.

  3. I think you can buy the short connector from Ducati (with the rubber ends). You can slide off the rubber seal by putting it boiling water for a few minutes. Make sure you get the polarity the right way round

  4. Hi
    Have the same question..
    Did you find it?
Saw that there was an accessory harness listed for the 2025 MS v2s. Maybe one need to buy that one?

  6. Hi All.
I am new to Ducati, having recently purchased a Multistrada VS.
I have been working on installing a SatNav and these are my findings (so far) as regards power supply.
    1. Unlike previous model years, the MY25 V2 does not have a spur/pigtail for the SatNav (technician at the dealer was unable to locate one on thoir workshop manuals/diagrams).
    2. As best as I can tell, Ducati sell a Y-cable to plug into the 12V power feed to the USB connector on the left of the "cockpit". Part number 96681811AA and costs £43 in UK. https://www.ducati.com/gb/en/accessories/search?q=96681811AA#
    3. There is an equivalent Yamaha part available on eBay/Amazon for £5 to £12.
    4. In any case, I have (so far) been unable to get power to the SatNav. All works fine "on the bench", i.e. using a separate 12V power supply. When connected to the power supply to the USB (using the Y-cable), I get power to the USB but nothing at the SatNav.
    5. The 12V connections are all fine, but it seems that the bike (Canbus) will not provide power (amps) to the SatNav. The Garmion Zumo XT only consumes 1.5amps.
    6. My guess is that the Canbus will only recognise the Ducati SatNav or that there is a configuration required at the workshop. The local dealer is investigating (this is new to them as well).
    7. For now, I will hard-wire to the battery (with a fuse) until I find a switched power supply (perhaps the Euro5 under the seat) and/or and revisit next time I go to the dealer.

A lot of words, but hopefully this will help somebody from going through the challenges I have been struggling with ...

If anyone has any wisdom regarding this, please let me know ...

  7. Ok
Came to the same conclusion myself that there is no nav outlet to connect to..
So Just built an y-cable myself from some scraped parts that had the same connector as the one providing power to the usb and waiting for deliver of usb outlet which should be delivered in a few days. (I wanted a second usb to power phone for quadlock mount)
Hope it works, but not very hopeful now..
    Will report back though

  8. Hello All,

I apologise for not coming back with the solution I found.

The solution I used, as I have never used a USB connection on any of my bikes, was to unplug the USB power connector under the left hand side fairing panel and connect my Garmin XT to the power supply lead using one of these plugs purchased from Amazon 2 Pin Waterproof Connector Plug Set Sumitomo MT090 6187-2311 6180-2321 : Amazon.co.uk: Automotive. My Garmin XT now comes on and goes off with the ignition.

It was suggested by a Ducati Tech that I could gently prize open the USB power connector metal pin connectors and connect my Garmin XT lead so I could run both my Garmin XT and the USB through the same connector but when I looked at doing this, with my limited skills and tools, I decided as I never use the USB connection I would just unplug it so it could easily be reconnected if I sold my bike and kept my Garmin XT.

    Regards,

    Ian

  9. Thats how I planned doing it, but to keep original usb connection I soldered together an split cable where i am planning to connect an other usb outlet I just ordered from amazon

  10. I tried plugging the SatNav (Garmin XT) directly into the USB 12V supply - SatNav still didn't charge.

  11. This is probably not a lot of comfort to you but I have just been down to the garage to check if my Garmin XT was fully charged as whilst I know it powers on and off with the ignition I had not checked if it was actually charging the battery as opposed to just running the Garmin XT when the ignition was on but it is showing the battery as fully charged.
The connector I bought from Amazon was only £6.99 so maybe buy the connector I bought and see if that works, particularly as a Ducati Tech told me I could run both the Garmin XT wires and the USB wires through the same connector.

  12. This is the connector I used - that didn't work ...

And this one arrived yesterday - I haven't tried it yet ...

    Both from Amazon.

For now, I am working off a fused supply directly from the battery.

  13. that was exactly the kit i had at home and mofied.. probably wont work then.. :(

  14. I think that there is a fault that Ducati has to fix/are working on. When I go to the UK Ducati site to check the Y connector, it's not possible to order it, so perhaps they are aware of a limitation.
Having said that, iansp seems to have a solution - that I will have a look at in a few days.

  15. Hi
Got my 12v usbport today and it worked
(Glad I noticed black and red is switched in ducati connector compared to the prewired i used, so dont copy my splitter and thinking red is positive. I switched the pins in my connectors before install)
