Has anyone found any decent frame sliders for the V4? Engine bars are overkill, I just want something to protect the plastics, should the worst happen. Seems odd that there’s nothing out there.
I think the lack of a frame makes it hard to design something that will work. Anything that can be attached would need to be fixed to the engine.
I’ve not had a look at the V4 up close tbh. Are there no points they could bolt to then? Where are the mounting points for the engine bars; could any of those be utilised?
The Engine bars bolt to the engine but the load is shared. A single point of impact might well wreck the engine casings.
The only one is from R&G for the LH side only - Engine Case Slider for Ducati Panigale V4 '18-, V4S '18-, Speciale '18-, V4R '20-, Streetfighter V4( (rg-racing.com) There are M8 (I think) threaded holes on both sides from the engine build mounting points - (I have blanked these on mine with SS M8 bolts - had to cut them down to fit). I think the issue is that none of the existing threaded holes line up so it would look odd to have them at differing heights on the RH and LH sides.
I’ve had them on several naked bikes, each time they bolted to the engine. Veetwin may have a point though, maybe they haven’t done them as they’d look odd. Just seems strange that there’s nothing out there, other than engine bars.
Fair points. Its a big heavy bike though and even a topple over means a lot of weight hitting the crash bung. Mine went down in a petrol station and the fairing side panel took most of the impact and survived pretty well with just a few scratches. A new one was £65.
Had an email exchange with Evotech, they’ve got another V4 coming in next week, so are going to get these in production.
Evotech-Performance offers them for the V4 (PP as well), I've ordered them but I'm in a bit of a doubt as somebody pointed out that they interfere with the ventilation trap (the closing mechanism for the air channels on the side pannels). Honestly, I like the look better without the sliders but from experience I know for sure that I'll drop the bike eventually. On the other hand I don't know if the convenience of those ventilation channels is such a big deal, I haven't received the bike yet. Cheers
I have fitted these from Wunderlich Engine protection bar GUARD Ducati Multistrada V4 | Wunderlich Personally I don't like frame sliders, they can do more damage than good in anything other than a low speed drop. The Wunderlich are quite discreet and look far better than other scaffolding pole types of crash bars- IMO. I have them fitted but not tested yet and hopefully wont ever test them! The vent flaps are accessible and work with the bars fitted.
I've just had a look at them. Very neat solution only downside, I clicked the "fits" tab and it will fit my 2025 PP but there's this warning "Starting from the 2025 model year, the cooling hose cover must be removed" which I don't know how to interpret. Does it mean that it has to be permanently removed or only in order to install the bars and then be fitted again?
Sorry, I just watched the installation video, I got it! Thanks for the piece of information, I think I'll send the evotech back and switch to the wunderlich
Have a look where those sliders are attached to the bike. they might damage the engine, veetwin is -imho- right with his assumption.
I have the Wunderlich ones as well, impressed but the installation instructions are rubbish, there is a video link I posted which makes more sense
