V2 Wing Mirrors

  1. Is there a folding mirror you can replace them with Daz? I'm looking at the rizoma blades but you can’t really see anything with them but they look great imo.
Does the 959 base plate and mirror not fit? Seems like it doesn’t lign up. Absolute needless retrograde step from Ducati.
Simply staggering that the American mirrors fold but not European models.

  2. The fact that they don’t fold is ridiculous mate I know. Having looked about I believe 899 ones don’t fit. I’ve actually managed to disassemble it and found a mirror stem on eBay. The stems aren’t stamped Ducati whereas the other bits are so being just ballistic nylon they’re probably made to be the weak point.

Even though I like those Rizoma ones too I tend to prefer my bikes to look like factory as much as possible so I’ll try this stem and report back. Again, ridiculous they don’t fold, made life really difficult on the Steam Packet first time in went to IOM.

  3. I’m the same with it looking standard. I’ll give the mirrors a try and if they snap then I might go rizoma. Saw on the US forum and it seems that theirs fold. There is a screw underneath that allows you to fold them. Not sure if this is right but it was posted by someone on there. Seems like an odd variance if true.

  4. Interesting. I may try and source some as that sounds like what we should have had from day 1. I’ll keep you posted.

  5. Found this. Looks like the fitment in the nose cone is completely different.

  6. What a shame. Strange that they would make it different. Just picked up a Bayliss. Will see if the mirrors last. First break I’ll go Rizoma I think. Such a poor design flaw for a wonderful bike.

  7. I know it's an odd difference. Similar to my Apriia RSVR when I had it, the UK side stand was so short the bike was prone to toppling over so I got a US one which was a proper solid unit. My parents brought it through customs and nearly got shot when the luggage x-ray picked it up in their hand luggage!

  8. For what it's worth I was in a dealership today looking at a couple of V4's with Rizomas fitted, they look amazing in both their closed and open positions and really suit the bike. As for vision, however, they are next to useless and also don't fold upwards which is kind of the point even though they don't really extend outwards very far. You also have to buy the tiny indicators that bolt into your existing light mount to replace the missing ones from the stock mirrors so it's kind of a compromise. I must emphasise though, they look amazing!

  9. Do you know which ones? I saw some from Rizoma that looked more standard and they looked like they fold. I fancy the stealth but they will be worse than the ones you say for rear views.
I had some bar end ones on my Tuono and they are superb but they aren’t ideal for filtering as they obviously add a bit of width.

  10. I’m sorry I don’t but I’ll have a Quick Look online to see if it’s obvious which ones they were. My speed triple mirrors are bar end ones and they do stick out a little but you’re aware of it when you filter so it isn’t a problem. Catching them when you’re in the garage though….:)

  11. Actually they were the Stealth ones, I’ve just looked on their site. Look so cool but really not practical mirrors I don’t think.

  12. I have just got the DB race mirrors from conquest. They look smart but wish I had not been so tight and instead got the carbon ones.

  13. They look class Tony. They fold up don’t they?

  14. Yes they do fold and yes, they are ace, just wish I had spent the extra for the carbon finish.

  15. But, you don't need them to fold as they stay inside the fairing boundaries. This was the reason I want folding as the bike is in a stone barn with a narrow entrance and there was about a 5mm clearance. Broke one original and realised things had to change.

  16. The OE ones are pretty wide for commuting. Would like some smaller ones so I can squeeze through gaps when I fold them in.

  17. They stay inside the fairing boundary, so even though they fold, you don't need it to.

  18. Wow they look amazing! Not cheap but worth it. I did manage to replace my mirror stem but will certainly look at these for the future!

  19. Dont discount the rizoma stealth ones. I had them on my v2 and now on the V4S and the view is better than you think despite the size. Worth sitting on a bike with them if you can to try it as they aren't cheap but for me, better than the standard mirrors and dont vibrate at motorway speeds either.

Avoid the cheap copy ones though, apparently they do vibrate at speed
