After re threading the oil sensor area, I have now vapour blasted the casing and noticed some of the media is still in side the chamber, so ideally I need to remove parts 8,9,10 and 11. 10 and 11 have been removed, but struggling to remove 8 and 9. Has anyone attempted this and if so, please could you share any tips? Cheers jamie
I take it the casing is off the bike? 8 and 9 look like sleeve bearings? Expansion /contraction method can help ,stick it in the freezer. If it's still on the bike this could be a problem.
8 is a bushing, 9 is a seal. A blind bearing puller is probably going to be easiest. The seal isn't too difficult, the bushing can be... warm the cover Make a not of the seal fitting. It's not installed as you'd expect, but appears to be back to front
It doesn’t look right when fitted, and yes, the pressure feed is from the bushing side. The high pressure oil feed is into the oil channel in the nose of the crank though, to feed the big ends. The seal is to seal against high pressure passing into the low pressure area around the primary drive etc. The bushing is there to support the nose of the crank and just needs lubrication.
