I just came across this thread from a google search (hunting for a 749) got a surprise when my name was mentioned too!
Spent nearly 4 years in Dxb, sold my bikes before moving their and then purchased again when I returned. During that period I only road during vacations, offroad in Morocco (as per my pic) and road riding in the UK on rentals. For me, too hot 5-6 months of the year and too far to ride to find decent twisties so for me, not worth the effort.
I noticed this discussion is a bit old, but I wanted to come back with an idea for those still thinking about moving to Dubai with personal belongings like motorcycles or other items. Moving from the UK can be quite complicated logistically, especially when it comes to shipping and customs. I used a local company that specializes exactly in international relocations to Dubai - Smart Movers - and they seem to be really good at helping people bring their stuff trouble-free. So I recommend them to anyone thinking about moving to Dubai.
Certainly has been a couple, my gawd one guys photo introduction was like a super market underground car-park. And I was like shite..it's his garage not like his 'city center car park'. Anyway I'll get my coat!
I’m in Dubai and the bike scene here is solid. Plenty of dealers, good used options, and long riding seasons. Prices can be higher, but parts and service are easy to sort out.
