  1. Another spanner in the works: I just called my local bike shop with a view to ordering a 14 tooth sprocket and was asked why I wanted to change it so explained. His advice was that it won't make any difference to driving in traffic. He said it was as simple as "if you want more acceleration then drop a tooth and if you want more top end then add a tooth" he reckoned I would still be doing a lot of clutching in 2nd gear irrespective of the sprocket size. These bikes are just not made for sub 30mph traffic.

  2. I appreciate that a lot of your guys are still working but I had hoped for a little more input into this matter.

  3. Try the 14t. It does work for most.

Once you are a whole lot more used to your bike, most of this concern will evaporate as your riding style adjusts.

I wonder how much experience of Ducatis your local bike shop has, compared to the many forum members here?

  6. Is there a preferred seller of sprockets amongst the community because there seems to be a huge range in both price and probably quality?

  8. Ive never owned an ST ducati. I have a 748sps and until recently a 1098s
Im in the camp that 14 tooth front sprockets are not healthy for chain life ( it's maybe not so bad for a 520 chain) but the 748 has a 916sp motor in it and runs 525 as did the 1098.
I found on both I could go up 3 teeth on the rear without a longer chain

  9. Confusion reigns!o_O

  10. I got the part number from the JT Sprockets website, it's the same as lots of other Ducati's of the same era as ST2
I usually get the part number from the JT catalogue then use that to shop around local suppliers.
I've never heard of Bike Torque Racing.

  11. Bike Torque Racing are a respected supplier of parts - used them many times.

  12. I cannot agree with your local bike shop stating it will not make any difference to low speed/revs behaviour. It very much will!

I have been in this forum and its father for over 15 years, the knowledge here is world class!! Listen to the experts in here who know more than a local bike shop.
