I ended up doing 2500 miles in 10 days over 9 countries: UK France Belgium Germany Luxembourg Liechtenstein Switzerland Austria Czech Republic Due annual / mileage based oil service in the next few weeks, booked in at Ducati in Abingdon. Next up, coming up fast, the 37k mi / 60k km valve clearance service (doesn't include oil etc!) - ouch - quoted £1485 @ Ducati. Will try to get a price from another dealer to compare Just saved 45% on my Norton's service by trying another dealer...
Dont quote me but im sure I got told around a grand, but this was small talk whilst buying the bike, excellent trip mate, bike take it all in its stride?
I expected around £1200 so was a bit surprised. Can’t seem to buy any sort of service plan either up front to lessen the blow. Yeah it was perfect really! Still not quite sure about the screen choice - clear WRS Caponord on and I had to close the top helmet vents to get some proper peace. Maybe time for an ugly adjustable deflector…
Annoying, I agree. That would buy you 3 years of BMW service on a new R1300: https://www.bmw-motorrad.co.uk/en/s...ml#/section-service-inclusive-pricing-inc-vat
An independent mechanic would be at least half that if you're not too precious about FDSH/"the stamp". I have one who comes to my house and does any work/servicing i want doing on my drive/in his van.
I'm in two minds - I intend to carry on piling the miles on it for another year or two, so it'll be quite a high mileage one when I come to sell it. I think the FDSH aspect should in theory make it an easier sale as a high miler...
Thinking about how many countries it must have visited now! With me: England France Belgium Germany Luxembourg Liechtenstein Switzerland Austria Czech Republic @hill100 and @Danduro, where did you take it? No doubt we can at least add Scotland to the list
France , Spain Italy and Switzerland Andorra on your bike. Last year on my second V4 Multi, Holland, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Norway. 3300 miles round trip from Scotland.
Regarding the 38k service; try J@L in Carlisle Their service charges have been low for a Ducati dealer. As its going to be a pig of a job, and your not likely to have to do it again, I would give it to a dealer that has probably done it before.
I second J&L, bought that bike from them and my current pikes peak, always go to them for work even though they are an hour away
