Well, TT 2026 is just around the corner. I'm over on foot this year (bike for manx). I tried a shorter visit last year and it were too painful not being there for all the racing, so, it's back to normal, there for all of race week. Who's going across? If you're going, have a great, safe and sunny TT If you're not going, you don't know what you're missing.... It's like nothing you've ever seen, guaranteed. This year marks 40 years since my first visit to the tt.... Long time since a 17yr old lad walked out of the ferry terminal not knowing where the course was! The TT buzz never diminishes, I'm as giddy now as i were 40 years ago. See you on the island
I've not been for many years as I simply found it too manic with too many people which ruined my enjoyment. But that's obviously purely a personal thing as I'm 'Not Good' in crowds. I am planning on trying the Classic in the very near future as I'm told it's a slightly more relaxed atmosphere, and to be honest the bikes racing would probably interest me more anyway.
We are there for race week. Last time in our lovely homestay in Douglas as they are retiring from doing it. Probably last time on the SPS too as it may have a For Sale sign on it due to my recent redundancy notice. Nothing like the TT - Manic but Magic.
Classic is much more relaxed, it's the better of the two to take a bike across, you'll enjoy the riding much more. TT is manic, that's true. But, it's breathtaking too. It becomes hard work taking a bike across. It's actually easier on foot. Maybe a little limiting in where you can get to. I'm over on a bike at the manx/classic.... I'll be out in the hedgerows
I’ll be there again 36 th year this year! Been over plenty times in between as well….. Normally a spurt over in early October when nearly all of the bottom section speed limits have been lifted. We go on the Thursday morning before practice week for normally a week Less manic & the rds aren’t closed as often
Plan to go down if there's no racing on. Meant to be a rest day, fingers crossed. It's well worth a look
Good "office watch" i would say...i like to watch practice week before i go....last year i worked out of the boardroom for the week [75" tv to watch it on]...which was nice...
I was all lined up to make my bookings next Monday until this morning I read on another forum that they’ve released them a week early. No idea why but booked without any queuing this morning.
I was able to sit there and pick my ferry crossing with three dogs and a car from whatever crossing and dates I fancied earlier. Unheard of in my 16 odd year experience.
There are more crossings these days. There are 3 from heysham on the Friday of practice week of practice week (03:30am, 11:15am and 15:30pm) plus the Liverpool boats. I were on the 15:30 but changed to the 11:15 3 weeks ago. To align with mates, no bother changing even at such a late date.
