Its going to a secure unit tonight, and breakdown people will phone garages in the area tomorrow morning to try and get it repaired This is my first and last Ducati ! Back to Honda
I've had a look, the bottom fixing for the oil cooler is missing, the oil cooler has swung backwards and chaffed through on one of the nose cone fixing screws Bugger !! The lower fixing for the oil cooler is a plastic peg on the underside nose cone cover ....plastic peg on bodywork holding an oil cooler in place WTF
Well apart from that the bike going all right - indicators still working ? You haven't got an iPhone as well have you 'cause @PeryL reckons they are pants ! Are the tyres going to be all right 'cause the front looks to have a received a coating of oil - looks like nice a new set of Michelins covered in oil. And oil on the pads and discs ? What a mad thing to happen.....
I didn't want to say it but that is what I thought - could have been a bad one. I know what you mean about Honda - I went to Mugello one year, on the CBR1000. In Italy it rained, thunderstorms, hail - horrendous - could not avoid it had to go trough it all. I remember thinking at least the bike will be fine. Sat Nav was throwing up random menus - useless thing. The bike - never worried about it for even a minute. What a thing to happen on the holidays. Never mind you are in one piece - get a pizza and a beer, a shower - the worst part is probably over - all sunshine and flowers from now on ...
I understand how frustrating it can be. My 998S decided to sh*t itself at WDW2002 when two relays self combusted. ANY mechanical vehicle can and most likely will breakdown at some point in it's lifespan, even with the most diligent care, so as long as you can be pragmatic about it and polite yet firm with Ducati Assistance, explaining that you are on a deadline with WDW2026 looming, they shoud hopefully be able to order the new parts for you and fit them in an acceptable time frame. If you have any difficulty negotiating with the garage/dealer, let me know. I am fluent in Italian and more than happy to help out, if you need some pressure to be applied, to speed things up and get you moving again.
Thankyou, my breakdown company have been excellent and are phoning the nearest ducati dealership this morning, the bike was recovered to a unit near Riccione last night
That's great news. If they drag their feet at the dealership then let me know and I can call them for you (if you want me to intervene) and put a proverbial boot up their backside to get it sorted. Glad you are at least mobile again. I would also suggest you call Ducati directly in Bologna and put your disssatisfaction on record, reminding them that the clock is ticking to WDW and how such a failure on a relatively new bike, impacts your customer experience significantly and that you would want a repair to be effected ASAP to restore your faith in the brand and for you to remain a valued customer. In this age of social media, any negative feedback directly posted on their socials, would have them prick up their ears pretty damn quickly, if it came to that. They should then contact the dealer directly to accelerate the whole process. In my experience this worked a charm, as they ended up offering me use of the pit box at Misano, where two factory technicians fixed my bike after it developed a fault. Here they are working on it. I am in the middle, when I used to have hair!
Bit of an update, Mr.Topolino and myself made contact, hes been in contact with Ducati Rimini today, and on Monday he will contact Borgo Panagle Factory to try and expide parts and a repair. He's and absolutely diamond ! Cannot thank him enough for his assistance Regards Neil
