Removing 999 Headlight Bracket Assembly

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by Russell B, Jun 22, 2026.

  1. Does anyone have a step-by-step guide on how to remove the light bracket from a 999?
The manual suggests that you "disconnect the electrical connections" but doesn't give much useful info on which ones, where they are, etc.
I want to open up the assembly a replace the low beam unit, as it seems to be very "loose".

  2. sorry not me but have you tried for a search for a pdf manual?

  3. I have the Ducati Workshop Manual but all it says is:

Which isn't much help, as P1 is just the various wiring diagrams :-(

  4. The manual should have a nice 3D graphic showing where the various electrical looms run. There should be one detailing all the various connections to the headlight assembly.

  5. I might be reading the manual incorrectly, but there are a lot of pics of the different cables/connectors but I can't see any references to which ones connect to the headlight assembly. There is this sort of diagram, which looks like it might connect to the headlamp assembly but I'm not sure if there are others:

I might just have to bite the bullet and remove the headlight bracket and see which cables stay connected to the rest of the bike.

  6. It's been a while since I did it, but I've a feeling it's just one big connector to remove it as a sub-assembly.

  7. I've had a more detailed "poke about" and it looks like this is the only cable that goes into the headlight assembly,
but I'm not too sure how to disconnect it (is it a pull or twist job)?

  9. The light grey part is a lock collar if I remember correctly - it needs to be in the unlocked position - which it may already be in judging from the picture. Then gently pull the halves apart.

  11. Still can't get it to budge, not sure if the grey "collar" has to be moved first.....it doesn't seem to want to rotate or move up/down either! I don't want to be too forceful in case something breaks.

  12. Got it, just had to lift the "collar" up a little and then I was able to pull the plug assembly apart :)
Thanks to everyone for your thoughts/suggestions.
